I was actually only counting the KH-original characters for that... The duck was there for comedic effect.

 

Kairi was Sora for the majority of KH1
Aqua was the backup plan for Xehanort if Terra failed
Disney and Final Fantasy characters don't count
Axel was part of the Organization, which means he was on the waiting list to become a Xehanort
