I feel like whenever religion is discussed around here everyone is either Christian or Atheist, and I'm interested in what the breakdown is.

In this thread I don't care about who's right, only demographics. If people want to debate in here my hands are clean. And the poll is anonymous so if you're embarrassed about you religion or anything people won't know who's where unless they say so.

Note: I pulled the list from the top listings of adherents.com so don't be upset if your religion is not here.

If we are permitted to choose political ideologies as well then I shall simply choose the Other category.

    How is Agnostic "undecided?"

I read in a book that the difference between Agnosticism and Atheism is that Agnostics don't believe in God's existence and Atheists believe in God's nonexistence.
    Thoughts?

Is this really the spam zone?? >_>
A when attached to the front of a word gives is called a conjunction. The conjunction has the opposite meaning of the non-conjunction. So, if you are not a theist, then you are automatically an atheist. Agnosticism is a sub-category under atheism, which states: since there is not proof for or against a deity, I cannot say that I believe or disbelieve in one.

A "gnostic" is one that knows. Tagging the prefix a- reverses it. So an "agnostic" is one that does not know. Most agnostics believe in spirituality but can't decide which religion is the right one. On a broader scale it can also include people that aren't sure if they want to believe in religion or not. But Agnostic is basically the group where you don't want to associate with anyone until you sort stuff out, or you you stay there because you've determined that you can't sort it out.

Or at least that is how it was always explained to me. If anyone knows more on the subject and wants to jump in, be my guest.

There may have been better places to put it but it wouldn't get the traffic I would want. Besides, like I said in the first post. The point is the poll, outside of that I don't really care where this topic goes as long as we aren't attacking people over thier religion.

That's actually an interesting idea. So basically, Atheists completely exclude the possibility of God while others (who have been determined not to be Agnostics by previous posts) believe that God could exist, but that He simply doesn't? Is that it?

I hold an agnosticism of all things, and it is hardly undecided... I have decided that nothing can be proven other than logical axioms. This after coming from a Christian background, so the undecided bit seems a bit off there. I hold that atheism is a faith in itself, and that the none should be substituted out there for agnosticism, if it is to be there at all. This is particularly because not all of these religions assume gods and because a religion does not have to assume a god in order to be one in the first place.
