I'm agnostic now. I'm Catholic technically, and I believed most of the teachings for a very long time.

Then the death of my friend and a lot of other factors changed me completely, and I became an Atheist.
Now, however, I'm just not sure. There's no reason for me to rule out the possibility of a god/gods, but there's no reason for me to believe that there definitely is one, either.

I do however feel that the concept of organized religion is completely wrong. Religion is supposed to be about unity, peace and love, but it is in reality the single biggest cause of war and violence. Not only that, but religion forces people to accept the teachings of a single person (who most likely died thousands of years ago) as unquestionable truth, despite the fact that there's zero proof that these teachings are correct. It stifles individuality and doesn't allow people to decide for themselves.

As for the Catholic Church, it is completely hypocritical. It preaches acceptance and love, but forbids things like sex outside marriage and homosexuality, despite the fact that they do absolutely no harm to anyone.

I'm agnostic, but I always thought that Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. were cuckoo for only believing in one god. If gods are real, there's got to be more than one.

Take it from someone who has read the bible cover to cover. In the Ten commandments and the bible, it never says their isn't more than one God. It only saids, "Worship no other gods before me".

More than one God, but this one is selfish.

I'm not hating on it or anything, just stating.

    BTW Proud Satanist.

Roman Catholic. Hate to agree with you but...you are kinda right. All it states is that you shall not worship another. Not that there aren't others...but to me...I don't believe there are others because...do they have their own book(bible)?...Ok I'm sure some other religon has their own bible with stuff about a different God. To me religions are different paths to the same destination(usually). Yes, that is a cheesy line.

I believe in all gods. I figure no one god could form everything.

Actually many other religions have books about their deities and beliefs. They also have artifacts and such. It doesn't make any religion more real whether they have a book or not. If you believe in it, then to you it is so. If you don't, then you don't. However, each major religion and smaller known religions too have books and such. Just none of them are as out there in your face as the Bible or Qu'ran. The reason for that is obvious if you think about it. Christianity is the most dominant religion in the world and Islam is a close second. The members of these groups are also very into spreading the word of their deity so Bibles and Qu'rans are given out often. Just because you don't see another religion's books and items pertaining to it doesn't mean they don't have their own things and traditions galore.

I'm going to have to correct something minor, Repliku . . . just a small note. Qu'rans aren't exactly given out to people like that of Bibles. Christians try harder to recruit followers than Muslims do. It's a fact that they too, like the Christians, do missionary work, but that is in pagan lands. The spreading of Christianity is actually becoming rather desperate, i.e. The Letter From Hell, the attempts to recruit followers from people who already have a faith, and are happy with it. In contrast, Islam rather spreads by commerce, and from what I've been seeing as of late, by “Divine Revelations†. . . Er, yeah . . . ok, whatever. Islam, is mainly right behind Christianity, statistically, because, first of all, when Islam first began to spread during the mid seventh century, it spread to most of Asia from then on until the thirteenth century. While many of the regions were taken back by the Roman Catholics, many also remained Islamic, whether discreetly, openly, or because of tolerance, and over time, many evolved to the different sects and branches of Islam [almost to the point where they're not even considered Islam anymore]. As of today, the regions where Islam is the dominant religion, they are highly, or overly populated, therefore producing high numbers of followers of Muslims, and evidently taking place as the second popular religion.

You have a point that it isn't just as freely handed out as the Bible is or the LDS book is etc. I have read the Qu'ran and it isn't hard to get at all but the missionary desperate thing isn't there that is seen in Christianity commonly. I meant it more that Islam does tend to spread through people and even here in the U.S. in our prisons, there are Islamic followers who give people the Qu'ran and there are quite a few people serving time that have switched their religion to it because of this. Christians do the same practice as well in our prisons. So you are right and I should have clarified that the Qu'ran isn't just pushed into people's hands freely like the Bible often is. After all, no one has ever pushed Islam on me and I was given a Qu'ran by someone who knew I was studying world religions and let me have one, whereas I was rather forcibly at times given Bibles and had at one time around 6 of them. The attitude is different.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Well with extremist groups today such as al-Quaeda and the West Boro Baptist Church, I can't blame you for thinking that way. However, you can't deny the fact that it has done some good things. The moral codes that are a major part of most religions have made its devout believers (extremists aside) better people. Granted, there are people who take the scriptures of many religions too seriously and become extremists, so yea there are good and bad aspects to it.

Well that is most Atheists. The majority are people that aren't brave enough to say yes or no to the god issue and say 'I need proof' while others say 'no we have no god'. But lke I said most atheists (espicailly ones brought up in a relgious home or new to being an atheist) usually say I don't know for the reason that no-one knows the truth.

I'm Christian-Catholic but I don't go to church. I've got all my sacraments so far but I guess I just don't take it as seriously as others. I believe in God though.
I also do believe Religion is the cause of many problems. It's probably as much of a problem as racism. I think that people should believe what they want to believe but why should they push it on other people or divide some people because they don't believe in the same thing?
