Anyone else think this decision is ridiculous?

Killed 270, only served 'bout 7/8 years of this life sentence, released on compassionate grounds due to his terminal prostate cancer only to be welcomed home as a hero.

I cannot understand what the Scottish Govt. n' Kenny MacAskill were thinkin'. They should've let him die in prison for his role in the bombin'.

Gotta admit, it's quite an embarrassment.

    Thoughts?

This is ridiculous. There should not be any grounds of compassion for a man who did not care for the lives of 270 people. This is beyond sad and an embarrassment.

There are so many unjustified things in this world. The thing that surprises me is how I still feel either angry or sad because of them. It's one of those things you just wish you could fix or make better, but there's never anything that any of the actually smart people can do about it. The smart people are us.

Anyways, all I can say is I hope that this guy doesn't kill anymore people. If he does, I blame their government on that one. Seriously though, I'm not exactly thrilled about the guy being released after killing even just one of those 270 people.

    That's ridiculous

he didn't care about the 270 lives he took away, and they let him out coz he has cancer! He should rot in jail, who gives a crap about how he feels.

"Terminal prostate cancer"? Please. Just cut his nuts off and send him back in.

He wasn't compassionate towards those 70; he doesn't deserve any compassion for his balls.

Oh jeez... This is something we really didn't need right now. Thanks to Obama's opinion, most Americans aren't going to be very trusting of the British Law system for a looong time. "Well, they let the Lockerbie bomber go" they'll be saying. I can hardly wait to see an article accusing the British of being Terrorist Sympathizers, knowing how the Media can blow things out of proportion.

While I can see why he would be released (unfair towards his family, as they weren't involved, and shouldn't have to watch him die in prison, although I will admit this reason isn't nearly enough to release him.), I still do not beleive he should have been. House arrest is too good for a Terrorist, no matter how you slice it. Punishment is meted out dependant on the crime, not the criminal, so why should his release be any different?

*sigh* I need a new country...

The British Govt. had no say in it, it was ultimately decided by Kenny MacAskill, the Justice Secretary, but he discussed the release with the Scottish Govt. For those that don't know, Scotland has it's own Parliament but is also part of the UK n' it's Govt. Thought i should explain this since most Americans don't know this n' will end up blamin' the UK as a whole.

I can see being merciful to some people.. but some guy that killed 270 people and has been fine with it.. screw him. It's not like Scottish prisons are such a bad thing. He wasn't being abused or living that hard a life doing the time for his crime. He could have stayed and died there. I don't consider that I'm being non-compassionate to say that. Those people on the plane had terminal blowupitis caused by him. Too bad he has terminal prostrate cancer caused by nature.

I am really not sure what was going on in Kenny MacAskill's head there.

    Why wasn't he killed earlier?
