Implemented Rehaul the censor system.

But it is. I mean people really have to try and make their profanity visible just for the sake of doing it? I mean yeah it's allowed to an extent, but it's rather silly they feel the need to.

Anyways I updated the current list.

 

I only change it to being visible so I don't have to see those **** in my post, looks ugly as sin.
(and don't you give me a "dont swear then" post, you know me better than that)

 

It's not like we're going to go ahead and just say 'Swear away then' we're not gonna promote that in anyway.

So instead adding more to the list. Lovely.

Made me giggle a bit. I won't be swearing more than I already do. Like CA said, the asterisks are just ugly ugly ugly.

 

The asterisks can be changed to something else, if it's really that big of an issue. Some forums just make it so words get changed to [Filtered]. Not sure what is preferred.

 

I mean if you want something other then asterisks, what then?

 

You could change them to other words. For example you could change sh*t to eyes, d*ck to piano, f*ck to pretty and so on.

Depends on what can be accomplished with the rehaul.

 

No one has suggested what they want rehauled yet, apart from more words being added, which isn't what I would call a rehaul but whatevs, the words have been added now, so is this topic done actually?

 

Well my initial post questions either removing the system, or rethinking it really.

I'm happy now that words have been added in, but I didn't even know there was the possibility of not having those ghastly **** in place of your words, if it's custom we should totally just y'know go all out, change fuck to frick etc.

 

What words were added?

 

All the ones that were mentioned earlier. Which i've already forgotten what they were now that they are censored.

 

If we're going with customization, I just want it to be said that this can be really well done or a really bad idea.

If you want to change the censor to change words into other words, make sure that you have your forum in mind. I myself do not care for Adventure Time and would likely just leave if that took place. But it would also be case in point if say fuck was changed to Shawarma or Tardis. Not everyone is a fan of Avengers or Doctor Who. I would say to make the substitution KH themed due to us being a KH forum but well, that might just come across as really cheesy depending on the words used.

My two cents:

I don't know. I don't really find myself trying to bypass the censor lately and I don't really mind the current appearance of it. I'd consider myself neutral to the point of I really don't have any ****s to give.

Before the QA team was laid off at SEGA, one of the forum administrators that was from the QA team (now a Super Moderator) changed the asterisks to smiley faces.

For example, if you said the F word, it would appear as :smile::smile::smile::smile:.

I wouldn't suggest that, though, since it can get annoying, haha.

 

*******ization is a legitimate word. ****** is not. So why does it show up like this?
