They say it hasn't been this cold in 30 years (-20C!) and hundreds of people have been killed across Europe as a result of the freezing temperatures. And then there is this satellite photo of Great Britain.

Some places in England and Scotland got as much as 3 feet of snow if not more. Here is the Wikipedia article with a timeline and breakdown of events across the region.

Anyone have any personal tales of the snow?

Because of it, I got to go home early from work on Wednesday. Pretty sweet, eh?

It's getting colder here, but the sun's getting brighter.
Did a 360 in my brother's jeep trying to turn around due to the ice
So far the coldest has been about 12 degree Farenheight.

What can I say, when Global Warming is affecting the world, everywhere else in the world is getting warmer whilst the UK is getting colder!!
    WTF?!
As if we didn't complain about the weather enough already now we've got this!

Global warming isn't just about warming, it is about extremes of weather. That means more extreme weather in both the summmer AND the winter meaning hotter and colder weather. The best term for it is climate change as that is what it effectively is.

I was attempting it more for comical value than actual facts. Guess it backfired, ah well.

I did hear a few years back that the UK may actually get the whole 'Ice Age' period, which at first I didn't believe, but the abnormal weather patterns over the last year did make me wonder.

I know it's weird for the UK, but it's about the same winter as we get here in central Ontario. Kind of weird, though; Ireland doesn't seem nearly as affected by the snow by the looks of that satellite picture.

    Freaky climate change is freaky.

Well last Friday I went to see a play my sister was in. The play was outside and at the end of the night I thought my toes had frozen. I really couldn't move them and it hurt like hell to walk. So basically I had to be about 1 hour and thirty minutes in -20°C >.<

There's been a dramatic change in the weather in Glasgow. A lot of the snow/ice has melted, though it is still a wee bit dangerous to venture outside. xD It's certainly a lot warmer than it was over the weekend. It should clear within a few, hooray!

The ice is absolutely treacherous here, on the way to school I slipped and dragged this poor man with me. xD

A car crashed on my road last night actually :/ poor soul. His car skidded on the ice and bounced off the pavement back and forth.

I'm back at school now, despite having all of last week off. And that aerial view isn't working any more D:

It started raining last night and virtually all the snow and ice has gone near me lol Apart of course from the wee ramp bit out of the front door of our Halls. I nearly slipped several times >_>

Also, I fixed the link. You can see frozen Britain again lol

Oh, I also heard that they had 2m high snow drifts in Germany :S
