Well that "single file line" you were talking about, the solar system will have made one complete trip around the galaxy which takes like a million years. Also, the earth will be directly aligned with the dark rift with nothing in the way. The earth is surrounded by stars in all directions except for this one ring around the universe which is void of stars called the dark rift. Nobody knows why it's void of stars or what's in it but there has to be some reason for it. also, the dark rift happens to be parallel with how the milky way is turning. The mayans running out of space, is to precise to be a coincidence that it ended on that exact day. Now i'm not saying the end of the world is going to happen. I'm saying i think something will happen. Nobody knows whats in the dark rift so no one can even speculate what will happen.

I don't belive this is anything more than a stupid joke. Mayan didn't have any time to finish their calender, I believe.
There is no reason to the world ends with you in 2012. Something my teacher said:
Edit: 19th Oct is my friend's birthday, what he'll say if they say the world will end that day?

Edit edit: I think he will say "At least let me see my presents".

In my opinion though. The end of man will occur when. The sun expands getting ready for a supernova , which will take another , what? billion years , I really cannot see how the world could just end to be honest. There isn't really a possibility but i still wonder why people believe in this "end of the world" i mean even today one of my class-mates were talking about this and i just shook my head.

Our sun is too small to go supernova. It'll become a red giant.

I'm kind of astonished at how quickly some people jump on the "end of the world"-train. Saying that the world is going to end is a pretty big claim, yet people seem to just accept it 'cause someone said so/read it somewhere/a calendar expires. I mean, come on. Really?

I love that people believe absolutely nothing will happen on the year 2012. The world could end at any moment regardless of how popular a certain is or not. Silly people and their misconceptions about probability. It's entirely possible for the world to end on said "predicted date" but as for how probable it is? Well...*Shrug* For all we know a gamma ray burst could end all life sometime this year. It's only a question of when. Obviously the Earth will be destroyed sooner or later.

Well when that happens , we won't be in that position any more where water can exist on a planet. So we'd die burning. But doubtful this will happen any time soon. but I'll bet my PS3 , PS2 and all the games for them. That soon enough after there will be another rumour about the end of the world.

I'm thinking the guy's just trying to grab attention. I mean there's not really any way to know FOR SURE if the world's going to end, no matter how much "research" there is for it. Research isn't 100% right all the time. Just my personal opinion really.

Yes , but the earth has been in a somewhat stable state for a while. There are the natural disasters which are caused by the earth itself. The only thing wrong with the world is probably pollution and for whatever reason , it's highly doubtful that the earth will just decide to end itself just like that. I mean , yes there is no 100% accurate way of predicting the future. But research gives us somewhat an idea of what is to happen and the rest theoretical. But I'm with you there that there is no way to predict anything , but if the earth has been in a stable state for such a long time. If between now and whatever the date of this "end of the world" , what makes you think it'll end just like that? but yeah. Anything could happen , but based on what we know. Highly unlikely.

I believe in 2012. (2012 is a year, ofc I believe it will be) I don't believe the world will go under though... There is no evidence that it will, its only prophecies and to me it doesn't make sense. The world will go under when the sun burns out. When that will be, I don't know.

Either way, if 2012 is real or not, I couldn't care any less. If we all do happen to die that day, then I can say that I've lived a pretty decent life. Still, the fact that a random freak chaos accident deal could happen at any time kinda mehs the 2012 thing. The reason, I think, that people more believe in this is because it's a popular theory.

    Meh.

I don't believe in people knowing when the world is going to end, simply because there are NO facts.

The Mayans' calendar may end on 12/31/2012, but that's just because they didn't start last year.
In other words, it's not the end of the world, but an incomplete calendar.

I'm sorry, this kinda doesn't make sense. And the calender of the Mayans ends on December 21st, not the 31st.

My point exactly, except it ends December 21st.
Seriously though, 2012 is much worse then the Lavender Town Syndrome.
People are too lazy to do some research.
