For the record this is NOT spam. I put a lot of thought into this with proof.
Many people freak out when someone opens their big mouth and say the world will end in this day.
There will be some religous things here, if you dont want to read about religous things then please leave now or skip to "reason 2" for the scientific part.
    Reason 1
Ok, the Bible says "Man should never know the end of days" or something like that.
A year ago I freaked out because some old man Harold Campings said the world is going to end June 19, 2011. Did it happen? Of course not. A day later he said their was a "miscalculation" and the world will end October 19, 2011. Will it happen this time? No because he has been wrong before in 1994. People committed suicide because of this and thanks to him he got people scared and they committed suicide. He is in a old age now where people start to get a little nutty and wants attention. So dont worry the world wont end in a week by now.
    Reason 2
Now on to the 2012 stuff, the Mayan's ran out of room in their calender and people came to a conclusion that the world will end when their calender ends. The thing is they was killed off before they was able to make a new one. Think of it this way, the yearly calender ends on December 31st. What do we do? We get a new one. That is know I got to that conclusion. Will it end? No. Nothing bad will happen when the planets go into some single file line.

Anyway, I hope you all dont freak out anymore and I hope I got Mike to stop believing on the 2012 nonsense, See you all when KH3 comes out in like maybe 5 or 7 years. :D

You forgot to talk about the wood people. We have no evidence of them.

Mayans believed it to be a pattern that the Mayan gods were constantly dissatisfied with thier dominant races they made. We are the flesh people. The most recent creations of the gods. Prior to us was the Wood people. People made of wood, who once built great empires accross the world. The Mayan gods killed them because they were imperfect. They had other races before them... forgot what tho.

No... they believed in an angry, indecisive series of gods.

Eh, I'm not a believer of 2012, but I do think something's going to happen, even if it's something as relatively insignificant as a shooting star.
Ancient civilizations were able to predict things like weather and eclipses to a degree pretty precisely. There's a chance that they did predict something and it got misinterpreted.

I really don't think this "end of the world" thing is going to happen. But the movie 2012 probably influenced people and people have been talking about it a lot ever since , but i really doubt anything of the sorts will happen next year. It's been predicted in the past about said "end of the world" and it never happened so what would make someone think it would happen this time? Maybe something will happen next year. But I'm sure nothing like the end of the world will be happening , Just people's minds being influenced by Movie's and rumours. :L

Well, to be fair, this prediction (If true) came WAAAAYYY before the other predictions. It just stated that the end is later than what the other predictions said.

Time will tell, but a single catastrophic event happening on the date a bunch of people came up with thousands of years ago is the unlikely scenario. The most likely even is that it will be like any toher day in the world, with papers reporting 'STILL HERE, APOCALYPSE NO GO'

The cycle repeats itself, as it has for a million cycles and shall for another million. You shall bow down to the Reapers, human. You live because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it!

I always thought the whole 2012 thing was bullshit. As they said "Man will not know the end of days". Pretty much defeats any argument anyone makes or Harold Camping's pretentious bullshit.

On October 20th and December 22nd I'll say "Guess what? WE'RE STILL HERE."

Nothing would happen. The Mayans couldn't even predict their own end, how will they predict the end of all men? I thought people were kidding when they talked about that prediction coming true.

Oh God, that movie was stupid. I couldn't finish it because it was wasting my time and asked a friend how it ends and guess what your safe in Africa! That ending makes no sense at all when the whole world was suppose to go bye bye.

Just because a tribe from a bajillion years ago had a calender and it ended on a specific date does not mean the world will end. However, I did watch a documentary about it, and it claimed that the north and south poles will switch alignments IIRC.

My thought on this, I think the world will end at the 21th of December 2012, but maybe not as most people think.
Not that the earth will blow up and everyone gets killed even if that's what most people think, but a big change in the world, a way into a new era.
People may come up with new brilliant ideas during this era but I can't say for sure what this era will bring.

As for the real world's end, it will be when we will either destroy this world with nuclear weapons, carbon dioxide (something) or when the sun will get so big that it will destroy this planet.

    That's what I think at least ^^

PS. Excuse me if there is any grammar errors.

So, it's more like "The world you know will end" but not physically the world ending. Yea I buy that. But that has been happening over the years. Look at all the technological advances made in a short time. Why would a single date be so important?

    Unless......*Cue Planet of the Apes*

Well , that same sort of thing was going through my head. that the world will end , but end as the way we knew it. And probably major changes in our world will occur , but for the end of man , it basically isn't going to happen any time soon but no one can predict something like the future and be 100% accurate.

Yeah, I know the technologic have advanced really much in the last decades and I believe when that started it turned into a new era as well.
But this new era will really make the world "whoaa" again, you know sort of when the internet, computers etc. came.
That's what the new era will bring.

As for the date, I have no answer to that.

I agree with you, some people say 2012 will be the start of a new way we look at the world.
