Honestly, many of my friends were reading it. It's an okay story, not fantastic but I didn't want to kill myself. People only get pissed off because of the glittery vampires. It is alright to take creative licencing with your own characters, there's nothing wrong with it. The only people who really complain about the sparkles is those who haven't read it. If they took the time to read it, they would find more logical stuff to complain about.

I would've been fine if it weren't for two things: 1) The graphic novel 2) The author makes the only good character (the werewolf) into a pedophile!

They're actually comming out with a 5th book; a side story of one of the vamps in eclipse. I might buy it just because it benifits the american red cross (no, i cannot donate blood, i've asked).

I got about half way and gave up cause I was bored shitless by it. My reasons for getting it where simple, someone recommended it (before the film was coming out) and I took a look at it thinking it was another vampire vs werewolves book but it turned out to be a unimaginative mockery of vampires weaved into a love story about a girl who's pretty much on the verge of becoming emo (well where I was up to anyway) as well as an underdog who somehow by a miracle (for the girl) ensnares a vampire who doesn't realise that his suntan lotion made of glitter is what makes him sparkle in the sunlight. I assume in the next book it's revealed that every night the Cullen father doctor guy forces all his kids to have baths in glitter infused suntan lotion.

    /long joke in there somewhere.

    Agreed.
And sixth. Well depends on the order.
There's Midnight Sun which is Twilight from Edward's perspective, but it got postponed/cancelled because it was leaked.

    This.
I read the first because my aunt sent it to me knowing I like vampires. I'll admit, I was expecting a gorey, dark book...I was on the fourth page before it dawned on me the main character was a girl.
    But I liked it.
Read New Moon and then the movie came out and the fandom killed the series for me. All these "hardcore fans" who didn't even know of the book until the movie came out, so I put off reading Eclipse for a few months.
    But I actually liked it.

The sex scene when Edward breaks the bed and Bella's spine was so worth it.

Especially when she said that she wanted to do it again.

I can't stand Twilight for several reasons:

    1. TEENAGE ANGSTY ROMANCE. Any aspiring authors, listen up: Its been done a million times before, and in this instance I didn't think it was done very well. I mean, lets think about what would happen in real life. Girl meets guy, they start going out. Guy leaves town, possibly forever, for no logical reason, and doesn't tell her until the last second. Natrually she is not happy. Any normal person would extremely angry with the guy and want nothing to do with him. But when they finally meet again, there is no fight, no lovers spat, simply a 'I lurve you, I'm going to forget how much of an ******* you were!'.

    2. MARY SUES AND GARY STUS. Classic trademark of bad fiction. Simply put: the protaganists are perfect in every goddamn way, save from a token character 'flaw'. Bella's is being clumsy, and even that goes when she get vampirised and becomes as graceful as anything. Edward's is 'overprotectiveness', and thats technically both a good and a bad trait to have. REAL PEOPLE ARE NOT PERFECT.

    3. THE DEATH OF THE VAMPIRE GENRE. Lets face it guys; vampires have always been a classic monster. They belong in horror movies. The thing that makes them scary is that they can be human-looking, and occasionaly can use sexual appeal to lure in their victims. Or at the other end, you can more grotesque beings like Nosferatu. Vampires should be antiheroes at best. I suppose a 'good' vampire is a nice idea, but when I read Twilight I was expecting it to be dark, maybe gory, with the Cullens occasionly succubing to the nature of their dark gift. And WTF kind of vampire sparkles? These are blood sucking fiends of eternal darkness, not happy-clappy-pink-unicorn-pixies vampires! Whatever happened to classic vampire stories, both in books and film? Meyer can't hold a candle to the likes of Stoker or even the more recent Anne Rice.

    4. THE FANS. This is what really pisses me off. Despite the above flaws, everyone is treating Twilight like Jesus and Buddha have given it their seal of approval. I can barely walk around my school without hearing 'OH-EM-GEE EDWAIRD IZ SO HOT'. Seriously ladies, get a life. Get a boyfriend. A real boyfriend.

I needed a quick read for English class, and I got kinda tired of hearing about it 24/7 without actually knowing about it.
It's not as crappy as some make it out to be, and I found it entertaining, but I'm not sure if it's quite worth all the drama it's caused.

I read it because my friends asked me to.

Also I didn't think they were that bad. They were decent. I thought the first movie was decent too, but I thought the second one was awful, except for the bits in Italy. The cinematography in the part where Bella ran through all of the people dressed in red = gorgeous.

I only read two of them, though. -shrug-

I usually dismiss Twilight haters as jumping on the bandwagon, but I actually read your arguments and gave you some credit. Then you felt the necessity to generalize all fans and throw in some insults and rage. :|

It ends with a random person appearing saying "It's all a misunderstanding" and everyone just walks away. You build up for a half decent action scene and you do nothing.

    Good story telling.

Ugh I know, the end of Breaking Dawn was so disappointing. If it wasn't for the epic bit where the baby ripped out of her stomach I wouldn't like it. :v
