DSi Whoever Said DSi is a Downgrade, I kind Of Agree. They ****ing Suck ****, I Used One DSi Before! Digital Camera as a Replacement for the GBA Slot. What's The Point of buying a DSi When you Already got a Digital Camera or a Capture Card? So I Rather Not Buy The Peice of ****

The GBA slot replacement is a huge turnoff. I have the golden sun games & my FFTA...and lots of other gba games I would like to play, but haven't had the chance due to my SP breaking...now, I was gonna buy a DS Lite, but Iheard there are going to be DSi exclusive games....And that makes me wonder. I just hope that the exclusive DSi games are just picture taking games(which would make sense) and not anything major.

There will be some DSi exclusive games, but there will also be some games that work on both (err, all 3) systems, but have "extra" features that will only work on the DSi. Think of that as a DVD with Internet bonus features that you can't get to with a typical dvd player, but could by using your computer's DVD-ROM.

My sister has it. It's barely a DS anymore though. It can go on the internet, download games, ect. Playing games, which is the main reason why there are game consoles in this world, is just a small option. My sister barely ever plays games.

    ...If that made any sense..

It's sold in America, but I wouldn't get it. See the "Ready for the DSi?" post.

GET IT!!! I bought it recently and I can't put it down! Trust me. You get a whole new UI, No lockup when you take own a game, AND DSiWare. It does come with 1000 free points for games. I got a game called WarioWare Snapped and it ROCKS!! BTW i can't wait for 358/2 days in NA

    My newest saying:
Like buying a DSi, it's a stupid decision.

I agree with you so much!!
The main point of a game console is to play games, so why add internet and cameras and all that junk? We can do it on our computers and cameras.

It's like buying the exact same shirt in a different color even though the other one is in perfect condition.

    "But...but it's PURPLE!"

Alas, this is how the gaming industry makes money.

Meh, it sort of depends. The GBA is long dead and I myself rarely play games from it anymore, so I wouldn't say that the absence of a GBA slot makes it pathetic. The point of buying it is to play DS games, just like you buy a PSP to play PSP games and a Wii to play Wii games. If you use the GBA slot a lot then yeah, I suppose you'd miss it, but the only thing I really played for GBA was KH:CoM and now that has a PS2 remake anyway.
And as for the camera, yes, phones have cameras, so do a crapload of things. You can buy cameras for PS2 and everything. It's only natural for them to want to put one in there, although I agree it's sort of pointless.

I won't be spending any money on a DSi anytime soon but if you think you wouldn't miss the GBA slot and you want a nice upgrade (I hear the menus and such are much nicer on the DSi as well) then there's no reason not to sell your old DS or Lite and get one.

@i <3 poptarts: yeah, very true, but at the same time -- Don't PSPs and PS3s/XBOX 360s and such do many of those things as well? It's only natural for Nintendo to add that sort of thing when that's what their competitors are doing.

    One word. Pokemon.

If you play Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, you'd most likely want to trade pokemon over from Saphire/Ruby/Emerald.

In my opinion, getting rid of the GBA was a very stupid thing to do just for a 0.3mp camera. So what if you can edit pictures, etc. I can do that with photoshop, plus, I have a camera and a camera on my phone. Also, I use an acekard (thing you can put downloaded DS games onto to play them, etc) and I don't know if it's compatible with the DSi.

The only thing I would consider getting a DSi for would be for internet.

You can buy browser software for the original ds or ds lite.

But my sister and I still have GBA games that we play, but my sister can't play it anymore.

Completely changing the subject, but if you want to get the DSi, I would trade in your old DS to Game Stop. $70 for a DSLite $50 for a regular DS

I'm going to merge this thread with the other DSi thread.
