I was just wondering, what would be your reaction/what would you do if you saw something terrible happen?
This question came to mind today after I saw two year eight girls get hit by a car at school,I reacted by laughing I didnt mean to laugh, I just didnt know what else to do I really didnt. I only laughed for a few seconds but when I stopped I wanted to go see if they were okay but teachers were already there and sending the other students away.

So yeah how would you react if you saw e.g. Somebody fall over, Somebody steal something,Traffic conclusion etc things along those lines.I'm just curious and hope I'm not only one who would react by laughing because I wouldnt know what else to do for one out of three examples I have given or to see a car accident. I hope I dont sound cruel for saying I would laugh but thats most likely what I would do simply because I wouldnt know what else to do or feel too shocked to do anything, of course I go and see if the person was okay if e.g. he/she fell over afterwards.

It doesn't sound horrible to laugh, laughing could just be a way of shielding pain. I know I laugh if I'm having an injection or someones taking my blood, I laugh hysterically so it dulls the pain, it's just how I react. If I saw that then I don't know what I'd do, I'd probably just be in shock for a few seconds and then rush over to see if everything was alright.

I know it's not as severe, but I faint a lot in school and the other day I fainted outside during lunch where loads of students were passing me by. I get the same reactions each time. My friends freak out and panic, other students might want to come over to see what's going on (which I find a little disrespectful) or some people just don't know what to do.

I don't think there is a way you should react to be right, as we all interpret things differently so react differently. If some people watched a bug get eaten by another bug for example, some might go "eww that's gross", others might egg the bug on and some people might laugh or just ignore it, some people might even study is fascinated. My point is I wouldn't worry about how to react, we are all different.

I once saw my friend fall over and scrape a lot of skin off her leg, I laughed since I thought she was laughing but when I realised she was crying I rushed out to help her.

To be honest I would have also laughed if I would have seen something like that happen, but only for a few seconds then I would take it serious. But it depends on what the situation is. So I guess your not the only one who would have laughed at that.

Well, depends on what you mean by "hit". Like, was the car at full speed and rammed through both the girls? If it was something not too big, then I guess I would've chuckled a bit.

Hmmm... If I were to see something horrible happen... Maybe someone being hit by a speeding car? I'd probably stay silent and rush in to see if the person is okay. I don't tend to show much emotion, so.

It depends on that too for me. I laugh a lot when something bad happens to someone or to myself as a way to laugh off the pain I suppose. I laugh if some trips or something but I don't laugh if something actually happens i.e. death, hospitalization, or at least not for more than a few seconds. I do know that when I got bit on the face by a dog I started laughing and crying, and same with other times that I've gotten hurt.

I suppose it just depends on the person you are and how you view pain, and death.

Mind explaining exactly how hard they were hit by said car?

I don't laugh at things like that. I mean, people following over, yeah. People running into doors, yeah, maybe a little giggle. But when someone is seriously hurt, I get this horrible feeling inside.

A couple years ago, I witnessed my step brother (11 at the time) and little brother (5 at the time) get hit by a car. My step brother got his leg ran over, you could hear the snap, then he just started yelling in pain. He had run out to save the younger one because the youngest had ran into the street to cross it and I was busy putting my other brother into our car across from our house. And the littlest one was hit in the head with the bumper of the truck, flew back, and laid in a puddle of his blood.

No, I didn't laugh. I was horrified. I screamed for my step mom, then dropped everything and ran into the house to call 911.

Yes, thankfully. The 11 year old's leg is fine now, it had just broken. And the youngest was in the hospital for a while but is perfectly okay now, thank God.
I think part of my reaction had to do with the fact that they were family. Had it been someone else, I'm sure the panic would have just been mostly empathy, and I probably wouldn't have been so quick to act. I would have assumed someone else had called 911, where in my personal situation I was very quick to do so myself. :/ Kinda sad, but I think it's a natural reaction.

I do laugh when I'm very nervous though, but more like...walking in the woods in the dark with a friend nervous.
