Anyone who lets video games affect them like that is already screwed up.

Someone already said it, but Japan is like the Gaming Empire and:

    1. It has very few crimes. Infact, it's a VERY peacefull country.
    2. It has very few obese people.
    3. Those that ARE obese are usually training to become sumo wrestlers. XD

    そして、何でアメリカが嫌いか?俺たち全文ばかじゃないよ。俺は日本語が話せるんだけど、流暢じゃない。

I live in Asia, the continent well known for the population of gamers.I think playing video games too much have negative effects. For example:

1.You used to be a top student, then you are introduced to gaming, you're grades start to drop, and your best friend ends up taking your old position. You will get jealous. This will lead into depression and you not being friends with the person anymore.

2.You may begin to get so obssesed with the game that you end up isolating your family and friends, even schoolwork! YOu may not be able to socialize and all that. The Straits TImes wrote an article about the symptons of gaming addiction so I think this matter is serious.

3.You might get bad influences from the characters, especially the good ones who turned to the dark side.

4.If it is online gaming, you will play in the internet cafe and continuosly ask your friends for money, you owe them money. This can lead to number 1.

I think gaming addiction is a serious matter but it really depends on how vulnerable the person is. In Singapore,we have a lot of overweight people, not obese.

^ Well, apart from some of the most obvious reasons why, it's true. That is why it is essential you have some sort of control of your video gaming.

...That's not very funny, you realise. Not funny at all.
