    Such as...

    - white
    - black
    - brown

    etc...

Who the hell invented these? And why are American's "White"? Something is really odd about the entire structure of this division system. xD

I mean I know Africans have darker skin, so "Black" would technically be something to hang on to for a term to use. But then American's get "White."

Is there some underlying message behind these, do you think?

    Discussion go.

i don't know what if the whites were black. if eveyone was the same color there wouldn't be as much crazy **** but we have to live with it. well if there was a message wouldn't we solve the message already?

I think the white had something to do with the indians calling the europeons "white man".

And I've never heard of brown

Race is part of one of the biggest illusion ever Made....Division.Division is what people use to Create order,to further themselves above others or to use it in a way that i will cheer up or put someone down.In a matter of fact everything Different and yet we're one and the same.Races were created so as to allow people of different places to feel individual and different from people from another place or nation. This eventually grew into Discrimination,War and belittlement of races such as the Africian Americans.

it believe it started when - well i think it's right - when the americans used the "black" people as slaves, Everyone who was considered as "black" was treated horribly by the "white" people. Yet even though were accepting everyone, some people are still racist. Some people do use those terms in racism, but some people use it to describe people which isn't that bad if you're asking the question, "What does he look like?", i don't like using thos words as I'm afraid I'll use them in bad timing.

It's a basic human thing, too put people into catagories, like 'They are white, they are enemies, they are black they are enemies.'
It's also probably another way in which whites could insult blacks, and blacks to insult whites because of how they look, like many people today would jusdge you on what you wear.
Americans are probably as you say 'White' because the first invaders of America were mostly Europeans (white) and even when African people were intoduced they were mostly slave class and no one thoughtto give it a mention.

I believe they came up with these words by teh skin tone from teh late 70's I believe. The whites are referred as Americans that have white skin or light skin tones as black people used that word just like how white people called them black in teh past.

That's not true at all. The color of your skin makes no difference to who you can live with.

When you're a child and you meet another child at the play ground, it won't matter what color his or her skin is as long as you get to play tag with him or her.

It's just my theory that as people age they lose that interconnectedness that we had when we were smaller; to accept and love and see all people as the same, rather than separate. Which is exactly what this "race" problem perpetrates.

well that's easy, people noticed that other groups of people were a different color so they just labeled them on that basis

Why do people call some Italians *Insert stupid "N" word here*? Why do we call people who are Brown in color Black? And why do we consider people of lighter complextion white? Obviously, the first question is my own, and the other two make no sense in culture.

I mean, black is coal dark, deep abyss black, and very few Black people are actually even close to that. White people aren't totally pale to the paoint we're neon. And as for the first prior mentioned question of mine, I'll answer it myself and then let everybody else freeball at it.

Why do some morons choose to call Italians and some Mexicans, *N freakin' word*? My grandmother is Italian, and she was called one, so I have one thing to say to that sort of philosophy: *Insert the bird here*

I would imagine that people just invented them as labels. There's also red and yellow you can toss in there too. It's just skin colors, though of course they aren't accurate and it would be more accurate to say pale complexion, bronzed/tanned skin, deep brown..whatever, as if someone is writing a novel or something for descriptions. However, the color of skin also became an identifier with ethnicity. In the end, to me there is absolutely no such thing as race excluding the human race, or rather human species.

Also, I don't usually hear of 'Americans' being called 'whites'. If an American is of African descent..he or she would be still called black. I am half Apache and so have semi-darker skin than the average tanned Caucasian person and have never been called 'white'. One thing I can say that I am glad to see go was the word 'colored' for dark skinned people. *shiver* It was so inaccurate, it is far worse than 'black'. The only reasons these 'color' terms stick around are simply for classing people into racial profiles for descriptions and well that's what we have to work with unless we choose to not use them at all.

I've heard dark skinned people regardless of ethnicity get called the 'n' word, which I kind of find amusing. What's more fun is when you call the person back the 'n' word and tell them to F off. Anyone that still uses that word in a serious racial slur tone way really needs to just be drawn and quartered.

I was watching discovery channel a few days ago, and I saw that there was an attempt to murder races that are completely different from the murderer's race. I won't say the races out loud but I just would like to prove a point. What's the point of people being racist? Those people are ignorant, and they can't look on the good sides to their problems with different cultures. I mean, can't all these people just get along somehow?
It doesn't matter in which way. Racism, has caused violence and riots, which have caused many other problems in this world. I wonder if there is a way that races, no matter what country, what religion, what skin colour, can GET ALONG!

I don't understand myself why racism exists. Maybe there's something in human nature that compels us to fear foreign cultures and things we don't understand. Sadly, many of the greatest atrocities have been fuelled by racism; take for example genocides that have taken place in Rwanda and Yugoslavia, the Apartheid laws in South Africa, the slaughtering of Native Americans, the rise of Fascism in Germany, Italy and Spain, sectarian violence in Ireland, India, Africa... the list goes on.

I do think that racist ideals and values are being challenged now more than ever before, but like many problems, racism will never be fully eliminated.

You hit the nail right on the head, all Racism is caused by ignorance and the fear of not properly understanding another person. Stereotypes based on what ignorants people THINK they know causes them to hate other races, thinking they know every last detail when they have no idea they're wrong. The only way to stop racism is to educate yourself and everyone else. Understanding and appreciation for another person is the only way to make peace.

I agree with you Marluxia 100% racist stereotypes can't all be eliminated

Racism also deals with knowledge of acceptance, otherwise, like I said, people are being ignorant.

It probably is human nature. Just how humans are naturally violent.
