Kingdom Hearts II Question - "Remembrance" cutscene

I downloaded all the KH: FM+ cutscenes and think I've figured out where in the grand Kingdom Hearts storyline they all fit, but this video, the one where Roxas and Axel are on the Twilight Town clock tower and eating ice cream, I'm not sure of.

My guess is, this occurs when Sora and Axel are fighting Nobodies in the portal between the worlds?

 

That cutscene appears when Sora defeats Roxas in TWTNW. Hope that helped

This is a really old thread, but I have a similar question, so I wasn't sure if I should make a new one... Sorry....

I know you see the "Remembrance" cutscene after the Roxas fight, but when in the storyline does it take place? Because Axel was already dead, so... That makes it not make sense. I thought the actual scene took place right after Roxas' story at the beginning of the game was over, even though you see it after the boss fight...

Does that even make sense?

 

It was what was left of Axel talking with the consiousness of Roxas.

 

It's easier to treat that scene as something that takes place beyond any physical location.

It could've simply been the remnants of Axel and Roxas, whom both for a moment, connected with one another "in spirit" for one final conversation. Looking at it this way can be compelling since Nobodies aren't supposed to be truly sentient beings. As for the location, the Twilight Tower could've been some abstract manifestation of Roxas' fondest memories, and thus served as a place where the two could carry out their conversation.

The possibilities are endless, and a lot of the game is up to your interpretation. But it's obvious that that cutscene took place after Roxas merged with Sora, and after Axel withered away in the Betwixt world.

It could be at the start of Days, as we know Axel talked with Roxas on the tower there.

 

When you say "start of Days", are you referring to Roxas' Story in KH2? If so, where during Roxas' Story in KH2 do we see Axel talking to Roxas on the tower specifically?

Also note that it's almost impossible as Roxas makes specific mention about Sora, fully knowing that he and Sora are one and the same person. He specifically mentions that "Sora will find the answer" when pouring out his thoughts to Axel and then says "He has to go back" because so Sora could find it. Given this, at the start of Days, Roxas had no idea who he was until Namine and DiZ reminded him of it toward the end of the arc. So it seems illogical that Roxas could've had this conversation before the beginning of Roxas' Story.

Initially, I wanted to believe that they were physically in Twilight Town talking until you completely consider the conversation between them and what's being said. Only after that, it seemed more likely the Twilight Town they were talking in was merely an apparition conjured up in some plane of existence where the two of them could talk in. More like a dream world where the two Nobodies could exchange final words before finally fading away.
