This is probably trivial, but, hey.

Just like with vBulletin, the default Session Timeout here is 15 minutes. However, even though they disappear from the Members Online Now list, here I noticed that their last location shows for quite a while.

For example, (user) was last seen: Viewing latest content, 53 minutes ago

After a while, it's just (user) was last seen: Today at 7:18 AM.

What determines how long that lasts? From my viewpoint, it looks like it varies, because when I'm gone for two hours for my GED and come home for lunch or come home for the day, it'll sometimes say different things.

For example, let's say it's 12:52 PM and I had just left to go back to the GED place from lunch and my last activity was 12:44 PM, and let's say I get back at precisely 2:07 PM and click on my avatar to get the mini-preview of my profile.

It'll show one of two things, going by my original username:
    1. Amaury was last seen: Viewing forum Introductions & Departures, Today at 12:44 PM
    2. Amaury was last seen: Today at 12:44 PM
In fact, here's a screenshot of the very thing I'm talking about:

Current time is 9:44 AM PDT.

    So, how does this work?

Why is it important that you learn this information, though? I had never considered paying attention to this at all since we have no real need to document times or people's activity's precisely.

My guess is as good as yours. It changes randomly.

I think I've figured it out.

After 15 minutes of inactivity, you disappear from the online members list -- that much I knew. However, your last location shows for another hour and 25 minutes.

    Hm. I think it varies.

I hadn't been active since 10:06 AM PDT. When I clicked on my avatar four minutes ago (11:12 AM), it said, "Yut was last seen: Todat at 10:06 AM" rather than, "Yut was last seen: Viewing forum The Playground, Today at 10:06 AM."

Okay, now I actually know how it works -- like, fo' reals, yo.

Since Sean added me to his customer account last night, I decided to ask this morning on XenForo Community. Please see this thread and see post six for a detailed explanation.

Cool beans dude. So basically it's not predetermined. It can just happen whenevs after an hour?

    That is correct.
