Question about Sora being broken, but not Kairi... Makes no sense to me...

Something got me thinking after watching the 358/2 days scenes. It was fully told that the reason why Sora couldn't wake up was because he needed Xion and Roxas to bassically go back inside him. But why is it that Namine existed yet Kairi was purely fine and not "broken" the way that Sora was without HIS Nobody being a part of him? Was it because she was one of the Princesses of heart? Someone please explain...

Xion held a good chunk of Sora's memories (and absorbing all the more from both him and Roxas), which was slowing his recovery rate down dramatically. When Roxas and Xion became one, Sora's progress completely halted altogether, due to Roxas holding all of Sora's memories -- Roxas then became necessary to restoring Sora.

Namine, however, had none of Kairi's memories, nor was she sapping any of her power. They were able to coexist because there wasn't any of the leakage going on like there was between Sora/Xion/Roxas.

Also, on a more basic level, Kairi was never put in a sleep egg, as she never had her memories altered

Same reason why Namine doesn't spell Kairi.

Yeah, it's worth noting that Namine isn't a Nobody like Roxas or any of the Organization. Firstly, she is part Kairi's Nobody, and part Sora's, as she was born when Sora stabbed himself at Hollow Bastion. Thus, the parts needed for her creation belonged to...
    • Heart: Kairi
    • Body: Sora
    • Soul: Sora
Kairi's body appeared comatose rather than falling into the Realm of Darkness when she lost her heart because she has no darkness within her. Because of her special creation, she lacks Kairi's memories (think of Roxas's flashes of Sora's memories in KH2) and has power over Sora's memories (CoM).

As I'm guessing the series likes to send the message of "the heart is the most important of all!", Namine is still considered Kairi's Nobody (she is absorbed into her at the end of KH2). But if the rules of Nobodies are fudged a little bit for Namine, I think that's probably why (in addition to what others have stated).

This is the most likely answer, but I think it also has to do with Roxas and Xion being directly connected to Sora's memories because of the events in Castle Oblivion while Namine's only connection to Kairi is that she was created from her heart.

That's part of it, yes. Roxas and Xion held (major) pieces of Sora's memories. Because Namine did not have any of Kairi's memories, and Kairi's heart was "complete" without Namine, she's fine. Sora, however, isn't, without Xion and Roxas. We don't know the exacts behind it but it seems that Sora being "incomplete" in some way would make him broken (as in, without Roxas and Xion). Namine's not really part of Kairi. Xion and Roxas are part of Sora.
