Help Question about Rep

I apologize if this breaks any kind of rule. But I merely just wanted to ask an innocent question:

Why exactly do we have the ability to hide our Rep? Why was this feature added?

I mean I always thought that the purpose and reason why there was a rep feature in the first place was so people could see how good and how nice a person on the forums we were...If this is so then having this feature seems to defeat that purpose...

I merely just want an answer as to why this is. A Mod/Admin may lock this thread immediately after replying.

 

Some people want to be judged on the content of their posts, not the colour of their rep bar.

In essence, they don't want to play the rep game. Besides, it's not an amazing indicator of character. It just shows popularity and time spent here. Both cruel and kind members alike get a fair amount of rep. Often the controversial members (e.g. Zter) get more.

 

It's an option included with vbulletin set by default, and we don't really see a reason to disable it. Users have the right if they want to use the rep system or not, some people wish to not have their posts judged by others through reputation. You should judge a person by getting to know them, not by how many green rectangles they have.

 

Agreed.

It's basically like turning Invisible Mode on and off.
