well Final Fantasy VIII is for ps1 is amazin (though it has bad graphics) and its my favorite game and can be played in KH2 and saved with a psx memory card
but if u want a ps2 game i suggest Final Fantasy X
kh2 characters that it has are tidus, wakka, auron, yuna, and riku
its an awesome game

 

Well, with me being young and all, my first Final Fantasy game was X. So naturally, I'd suggest you would also get started with that. : D Final Fantasy X-2 was okay but not as epic as the first one. Though I liked the battle system better in the sequel. And I know most people loathed Final Fantasy XII but, I liked it. Decent enough to at least give it a chance, too.

Otherwise, I don't have an opinion on what is the "best FF game to play" because well... I haven't played most of them to even compare one to each other. But pretty soon I'll be getting my hands on Final Fantasy VII from PSN.

As for VII being connected to X/X-2: I'd like to just pretend that they are separate storylines. Period. Gosh. >_>;;;

 

Well in Kingdom Hearts they use characters mostly from Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X/X-2. I would definitely go for VIII which includes Squall. I would also get Final Fantasy X and X-2 since it has Yuna, Rikku, Tidus, etc. It's a fun game to play and the sequel continues the story with already well-known characters.

 

Start of with FFX or FFVII (VERY good both of them) IF you're in the femalish type, go for FFX-2 (although storyline can get shuffled if u didn't play FFX)

 

I would start with IX. VII is my personal favorite because it has an amazing and expansive story and was also my first one. But, IX is absolutely incredible. Start with IX, then play VII, then X, then XII. I will say, I didn't like XII very much at all because it's too linear. You'll find in Final Fantasy games, there are a lot of moments where you have to backtrack somewhere or something happens to make you go from point A all the way to point F to circle back around to point B. FFXII is just this: Go here, get captured, escape, repeat. It does have a decent story, so it's at least worth playing, even with the stupid battle system.

Kaxej's recommended order:
FFIX, FFVII, FFX, FFX-2, FFVIII, FFXII, FFI, FFII

That's all I've played, so I don't know about III, IV, V, or VI.

No, you're thinking of X and X-2.
X = 10
X-2= 10-2
XII = 12.

Also, I'd say start with X, but if you want faster gameplay try XII.

 

X was my first Final Fantasy - and I love it! It's my favorite - and I've played VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII
I haven't played any for the gameboy
but if you get the DS I recomend XII Revent Wings and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles : Ring of Fates

Go in this Order.

X, VIII, XII, Go on to any one.

I-VI are classics, mostly IV, but I wouldn't have wanted to play them first for some reason, but that's just my opinion.

 

Go for X & X-2 for a great story to start out with.
Other I recommend are XII, VIII, IV, and XII for DS called Revenant Wings.
