    This is for the discussion of the Pythagorean theorem.

    A2 + B2 = C2 in a right triangle. Such miracles!

    It is a wonderful concept and equation. I used it a few days ago to find the distance between two people. And not use it in math. It comes in really handy

    I'm not one for maths but Pythagoras' is one of my favourites cause it is so easy to do & you can never really forget how to do it.

    It is quite wonderful.

    Which reminds me... I have to review triangles for my finals. :/

    Simple formula really.

    Proofs on the other hand...

    not so much. xD

    I don't understand it, really. I never get the question's right...I square the A line, square the B line, add them, and it's wrong....TT^TT

    Oooooh, I can help. I effin' love math. :D

    Here's a nice example:

    a²+b²=c²

    Let's say a=2 and b=3.

    Plug in the numbers:

    2²+3²=c²

    Solve the exponents:

    4+9=c²

    Add the numbers:

    13 = c²

    Find the square root to cancel out the exponent on c:

    sqrt 13=sqrt c²

    (Since 13 isn't a perfect square, I'll just round to the nearest tenth.)

    3.6=c.

    Easy enough, no?

    Yeah... I'm THAT bored.

    Yes. Because this is an essential part of everyday life. I mean, what would the world do without this :rolleyes:
    I got so sick of it back in geomety last year 0_0 *reminisces...*

    Don't even lie, without Pythagorus we'd be lost and disillusioned.

    Yes we would.

    Hehehe, this reminds me to review the Pythagorean Theorem AS WELL as a butt load of other stuff for my final.

    Geometry sucks. >>

    I have a quiz tomorrow. I have to use the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate sides of triangles after figuring a couple out from a circle's arcs.

    Eh... I have a quiz tomorrow too... On fractions... FRACTIONS, FOR GOD'S SAKE!

    I'm SO glad I'm doing advanced math next year instead of regular 8th grade math.

    If this is on my final, it will be the easiest part of the test... *****y eyes at proofs, factoring, solving advanced cubic equations, etc.* -_-;

    Well I suppose its true to a certain extent.
    But seriously. You can definately live without it. I guess itd be an empty, pointless existence though :eek: but its life none the less

    is it just me, or does everyone here take geom?
    it was so much easier than alg2/trig -_-' yay for ibmath SL next year...
