    Playstation Network Outage

Okay, so what is up with this outage.

    1. PSN was hacked
    2. The hackers were stopped (but not caught)
    3. Sony has been working "nonstop" to get the issue resolved.
    4. It was due to be back online last week, this week, and now at the end of the month.

Okay, I understand that they were hacked by the infamous group "anonymous" and I understand they are doing what they have to to fix it. I am just really PI***D about all the friggin lies and lack of info all together that Sony has been giving us.

Don't get me wrong I am a loyal PS fan no doubt, and I would never betray Sony over an incident like this (normally), but they are losing a lot of my respect. I mean, they were pretty much begging to be hacked by not updating there security software and (not sure if this one is true) one of the spokespersons for Sony actually made a claim that they were (more or less) unhackable.

I have been with Sony from the beginning, from Crash, to Spyro, and my first rpg Legend of the Dragoons. But now when I turn on my ps3 and see that they are still down for maintenance I lose a little more respect for them. I can't even turn on my ps3 anymore for fear I may give up on them completely. I would like to here feedback from all you PSN users out there. Please no Xbox guys/girls getting on here and mocking, and no flaming (at least not to other members of KH, Sony is a friggin target a mile wide so have at it). Please visit this site first and read some of the articles Sony has given. I want you to have the same info I do before you start ranting.

This is for pretty much bashing Sony and then saying that you still love them. And if this does get erased I won't be mad or anything. I'm just looking for answers . . . if there are any.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't actually do this.

As I understand it, Anonymous DDOS'd the PSN servers in the days prior to the attack in protest against Sony's methods of dealing with Geohotz, and actually managed to 8ring them down. However Anonymous announced that they had no rel8ion to the identity theft that occurred shortly afterwards. It's likely that it was a hacker who took advantage of the opportune time to steal the inform8ion while the attention was focused on Anonymous.

That sounds like their luck, but from my minimal understanding of DDoSing, that wouldn't allow a chance for anything of this caliber to happen, unless one or a few of those partaking in the DDoS were able to breach security & firewalls and leave something to set this off a few days later.

Sorry, I guess there was some confusion in the way I stated it. What I intended to mean was that the real hackers used the Anonymous attention as a smokescreen, to cloud their own activities from the press, and possi8ly Sony. I dou8t the DDOSing actually helped cause the 8reach.

Surely Sony would have increased their security after being DDoS'd though? I mean, I have no problem with Sony, and I do not blame them in any way, but logic stands that if someone attempts to DDoS a system, then that should be rectified and security should be increased as soon as possible. If Sony was unable to increase security for whatever reason is yet to be stated, AFAIK.

Well I'm thinking that the free game will probably be one that was developed/published by Sony, since if they were handing out someone else's game they would have to pay fees to the publisher of said game. As long as there are any decent games at all I'm happy, I really haven't bought many PSN games so there should always be something for me. I'm personally hoping for Shooter.
