Oh I had a good laugh reading this.

By the way, hash=encryption. They might mean they did not have some kind of encryption they usually use to encrypt codes and stuff, but hash is a form of encryption. And for the record, our forum here hashes our passwords. Twice, if I remember correctly.

It's not our site, it's vbulletin, this kind of encryption is used in all vbulletin forums. But don't think it's that tight, anyways. I think Sony had focused more on defending its towers than encrpyting its data.

Good point I should have thought about that one.
I wonder if this is going to cause a chain reaction of paranoid patches and fixes across all gaming systems.

    Wow

Fail on my part I saw what Kubo was talking about and was like...OH SH**!!
I went back to fix it too late now. I mean I'm looking at it then I see the word dicks instead of disks. So I must have hit the "c" by mistake I'm really sorry about that. Oh and is this true by May 4th the network should be coming back on? Because some of my buddies of mine were lol-ing because they said it must suck that you not only wasted so much money buysing an imported PS3. Its not reading DISKS and the network is going to be back by your birthday. I know your tight?(I hate that word so much to decribe the state of being angry, annoyed ect...) Please tell me no I hope its not true.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone on the inside did play apart. If that were the case you'd have to wonder if it was worth it. That person would have lost more than his job if he/she was caught.

I want the person(s) who did this caught. I'm really curious as to who they are. xD

I know it makes you think ya know.
If it was someone on the inside and they don't get caught I wonder if there will be later attacks.

If it was an inside job then there's nothing stopping more ex-employees from trying the same thing again later. There could've been more than a few people involved in this whole thing but they fired like 205 people from the SOE division...and i bet plenty of them could've done it and may try again...

Getting their asses thrown in jail will be enough to stop them.
Why make their life worse and try and go for a stupid revenge attack on Sony who will end up winning in the end.

If it were an ex-employee then they'd have a hard time getting in without proper access since the security has been completely revamped since the attack.

But there is nothing to suggest it was the work of an ex-employee.

The attack being an inside job is pure speculation at the moment. It's highly possible, but there haven't been any announcements yet.

This kinda annoys me, especially when the PS3 had just started spewing out Epic Games! *coughPortal2cough*.
But luckily, I never inserted credit card details onto my account, so I'm not too worried.
Plus, we're getting freebies when Sony gets PSN back up and running but that's not exactly going to make up for all the details that have been stolen...
But even if you didn't have CC details stolen, I would assume changing your E-Mail address would be wise? Or would it matter THAT much?

It is. It doesn't look likely that Sony will get it up by the end of the week.
