Depends on methodology. If your breaking in ivolves any changes to the system being hacked (such as shutting down a firewall) then yes. If not (such as using a back door) then no.

On top of what others have said you also need to realize that online use is optional. If you never connect your PS3 to the internet you are in no danger if the network does get hacked again.

Doing this works too. I mean, no PSN means no reason to worry about it being hacked. Having a PS3 might be a bit more boring that way but it works...

As previously said, that would be quite boring. Remember, that an advantage that PS3 has over 360 is that online is free. You don't have to pay-to-play with friends, family, and the whole PSN community. Sony also just announced some ID Security program which is free. This hack however, will not influence if I choose not to purchase a PS3.

Personally I hardly use PSN. I can think of two games that I ever used it. Need for Speed Carbon, and Demon's Souls. I simply prefer the system itself and the game library.

The number of people who don't use PSN is pretty irrelevant, I would think. PSN comes free, whether you use it or not, and I'm pretty sure (don't quote me since I don't know actual numbers) that the number of those who do outnumbers those who don't use it. There are even games that you can't play if you're not playing online (here's looking at you, DCUO)

Well it's important to note that Anonymous isn't an organis8ion; it's a 8unch of people working towards the same goal. So it's fully possi8le that some Anonymous hacked the site, while others didn't approve of the actions, and didn't want them sanctioned 8y Anonymous, possi8ly 8ecause it would gr8ly affect them in the eyes of the pu8lic. So the situ8ion appears to 8e that Anonymous didn't do the hacking, when, in fact, it was a few rogue Anonymous.

Altern8ively, it's some other hackers who attempted to 8lame it on Anonymous.

Also, the fact that it is free means that Sony made no money off running it, other than the money from/for the Wallet. That means that all the money Sony is spending on getting everything working again AS WELL AS the new security ID program thingy is coming right out of their pocket.

Don't forget the people who pay for PS+. That has to be going towards some of it, as well as the cash they get for the people who use credit cards to buy games over the store.

True, I did totally forget about them, but it still wouldn't be enough to cover all the costs that Sony would have spent over the past two weeks, as well as the money that they could have made. I know that if the PSS wasn't still down, I would be spending some PSN Credits right now.

So by ''Around the end of May'', they actually meant ''First week of June.'' Ah well, I just want my free games already.

It doesn't bother me at all since they were using the time for conducting security checks. But I do want my free games too. xD

I'm hoping they've maybe added some news games to the store too.

For those of you that don't know, Sony has said that they will have all services up and running by the end of this week.
