For Japan... probly, but the rest of us weren't affected that much and Sony is losing enough money/credibility/business as is. They don't wanna do more than they have to.

It's most probably a Sony only problem, seeing as they're still rather vulnerable.

Agreed, and since Sony has more users for hackers to leech off of I doubt they'd go after Microsoft or another company. Besides, we all think it's moderately more safe than before so they know everyone's gonna have some of their guard down...

SE sites were hacked earlier this week, albeit only email addresses and DOB were taken. It wouldn't surprise me if other game companies will be targeted also.

I was thinking about asking for a PS3 for my birthday, but this whole events that happened with Qriocity/PSN, I might not. :/

    I dunno, should I?

Well, in my opinion, PS3 is still the preferred system. All the games I enjoy are out on it, which is mostly RPG's.

Honestly if I were you, i'd still ask for one.

The first hacking was done by former SOE employees who were laid off. That means they were able to do it because they knew the weak points of it. It still is better for online play and it has great games in HD unlike 360 or Wii.

All in all Sony probably won't let their guard down this badly again so it should be pretty safe from hacks in the future.

You're making it sound like if you buy one, there won't be any online or something. It's still the best system out there, so I recommend you get one.

Anyway, this isn't exactly the right thread for your question.

So I think the Store was due to be back up a few days ago, no? Has the date been moved due to technical difficulties or are they just holding out on us for a bit longer...?

It seems the Store will be back up around the end of May now. Just a few more days I guess.

W8, what? They found the culprits of the hacking? Or 8y the first one, do you mean the one that happened years ago?

I thought they were hacked by Anonymous. Didn't Sony supposedly get a card saying that they were going to get hacked? Or is my info wrong?

I've read many are skeptical that'll reach it's target to go live, that'll be a few days late. Hopefully it ain't true.

There was a message inside some files that referred to Anonymous but there's no proof that Anonymous, as a group, did it. Perhaps a rogue member or a group taking advantage of Anonymous' situation, but this isn't Anonymous' style.

Very wrong, from what I've heard. Apparently, they weren't hacked by anonymous, but a group using Anonymous as a sort of scapegoat.

Either way, the hacker's identity is still unknown, and thus it is accurate to say that he/they/she/it is anonymous.

Indeed, the culprit is anonymous, 8ut at the same time, not Anonymous.

What's this a8out a message left in the files? Anyone got a source?

I'm just wondering, I don't know how this stuff works, so it's a guess, but if someone hacked someone like Sony, could another hacker get in through the "hole" that the other hackers made? Maybe that's why everyone had their Play Station accounts hacked.
