PS3 outsells the Wii in Japan for a second week in a row...

I'm not denying that White Knight Story is playing a role in people purchasing PS3s, since exclusives are a big deal when choosing a console to buy, but for a fan-speculated release date that hasn't budged for at least 4 months to randomly increase sales *now* to the point that it's statistically significant is unlikely. If people wanted to buy a PS3 simply because of its exclusive, White Knight Story, they would've done so a lot earlier than now or would do so sporadically at this point. There is nothing incredibly specific that happened this November (like an official release date announcement for example) regarding White Knight Story that would spark a significant increase in sales in favour of this title.

Basically, with Level 5 having offered nothing but a playable demo back in September, and being completely quiet about their game ever since then, the hype of White Knight Story hasn't changed dramatically enough since E3 and TGS to all of a sudden spark up the sales that have been happening since the beginning of this month.

 

You also get the early christmas shopers in there too, last year it was all about the wii. The wii had the games, this year its all about the ps3, it has some amazing games comming out and white knight comming out very soon.

 

This year's all about the PS3? I don't think so. This year has been all about the 360 and Wii with Halo 3 and Mario Galaxy. Q4 has shined for both those consoles; the PS3 has been biding its time silently for a year and will continue to do so until 2008.

The PS3's year will be next year, so if you're going to say people are buying PS3s all of a sudden because of the Christmas season, what PS3 exclusive(s) is coming out this holiday season that could possibly cause an uproar in sales that isn't due to the 40GB model?

And again, Level 5 has said nothing about White Knight Story's release date. In fact, Early 2008 has no real factual explanation other than shallow speculation that "it'd be a good time to release it". But furthermore, sure people might buy PS3s just because it's Christmas and it'd be a great time to buy them, but the same can be said about the 360 and the Wii as well--consoles that have MUCH more to offer this holiday season.

 

When I said its the ps3's year i was talking about this sales season. meaning everyone is prepairing for next years launches.

since us in America wont get final fantasy 13 till 2009 white night is are big rpg for the 2008 year. Most people who buy systems in the christmas season are looking forward to the next years releases.

 

I do agree that Xmas is playing a big part now too in the uprising sales since in years past it's been Xbox and Wii, and now this year people can get a PS3 too. That does help. It's a bit of all those really.
