Dont waste your money on a PS3. for the same price, you can get a Wii with 7 games (or whatever amount you want..also ps2 games?).

Please remind yourself that the Wii advertises for a *completely* different gamer demographic. Super Monkey Ball Blitz? Rayman? Warioware: Smooth moves? The PS series has always been a console more directed toward mature gaming. Nintendo has always, and most likely will continue being, a party/younger-gaming-directed franchise.

You also can't ignore that many consumers of the PS3 market are in it for the Blu-Ray player capability. With independent Blu-ray players costing in the thousands, the PS3 is an obvious alternative, so don't go shoveling these "PS3 is a waste of money" antics in every PS3 thread you see.

To a certain degree, the extra 150-200 dollars one has to pay to get a PS3 over a Wii is WELL worth the 1080P.

I agree with most of the post, but your math is bad here. PS3 retails for $600, Wii retails for $250. That's a $350 difference, not $150-200 difference. It also comes with Wii Sports, which is admittedly little more than a tech demo. And the games are cheaper. But other than that, you're completely right, the target audience for the two systems and the features they deliver are vastly different.

While I was doing merely an estimate, double check your options: while it's not dead yet, the 20GB model does in fact, still exist, not just the 60GB model (which was what I was referencing from in my earlier post). Play-Asia retails these for about 500. That makes $250, not $350, a far closer truth to my -$200 estimate.

    Okay, gotcha.

I agree with libregkd about Motorstorm being preferable to Excitetruck (I've played neither, but the Motorstorm commercials make it look pretty sweet), but I disagree about Virtua Fighter/Tekken vs. Smash Bros. I prefer Soul Caliber to Tekken or Virtua Fighter anyway, but I really like the Smash Bros. series, and it's hugely popular with lots of age groups and demographics. It's sort of the black sheep of Nintendo's first party titles in that respect.

Also, and someone feel encouraged to correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that Brawl won't be using the Remote, but will use either Gamecube controllers or the classic controller. But I could just be crazy, I haven't checked in awhile.

Is there any difference between the 20 GB and 60 GB PS3?

Yeah, it'll be using GC controllers. Sakurai felt that adding Wii remote configurations to the gameplay would be far too difficult and confusing for us veteran Smash players, so he decided to let us keep our GC controllers. Since Brawl's main selling point is (hopefully) its online capability, it's most likely a title that Sakurai wants every smasher to buy *knowing* how to play the game, with a little adjustments here and there--since he said the game speed will be 'moderated' (It's probably going to be a little slower). No surprise there when they have to compensate for online play.

And yeah, as libregkd said, the 20GB doesn't feature Memory stick, the extra HDD space, Wi-Fi. I think I'm the only one in my friends group who has a 60GB model, so I'm not quite sure on the reasons why the 20GB hasn't been doing well. I was actually going to settle for the 20GB originally since both support 1080P anyway.

I think I'll end up getting the 20 GB PS3 instead.

With the memory stick, is it basically just to save PS3 game files? or PS2 ones? Cause I've been hearing it can do both, but I dont know for sure.

The PS3s actually don't have any slots for you to insert PS2 memory cards. Whenever you play a PS2 game, the console creates an internal partition for PS2 save data. Unless of course I haven't done enough homework, but I don't know a way to transfer your PS2 memory card data to th PS3--only possibility seems via USB, but I wouldn't know how to do that. XD

The memory stick slot is for transferring things like your digital camera photos, videos, etc.
