Well I heard about the PS3 Slim just like everybody else. AND i thought maybe PS2 Compatibility. BUT NO!! Sony actually said that B/C is dead. >:( So I thought I would ask you a couple of questions! Would you rather have:

    1: PS3 that plays PS2 and PS1
2: PS3 That plays PS2 but no Ps1 (NON EXISTENT)
3: PS3 That plays ps1 but no ps2. (Most of ps3s on the market.)
4: PS3 but NO backwards compatibility.

I would go with The first choice. BUT there are no more available.

    :( Oh well. any way.

There are PS1 games that can be downloaded for a decent price off the site and since Sony just got their hands on an emulator for PS2 to PS3 games, there's a chance we may also in the future see PS2 games added. The reason the backwards compatibility was removed in the first place is because people complained about the price and essentially what was in the PS3 was a PS2 component to operate the games. This was costing Sony to lose a lot of money so to drop the price and not be totally screwed, they had to remove it. I do wish I had been able to purchase the PS3 with PS2 compatibility but ah well. I still have a PS2 so it doesn't affect me much. So of course, I choose the first option.

LOL yeah. You are lucky. I am going to get a used console with the ps2 B/C

If thats true why not add the emulator to a software update so you won't have to rebuy a game you already have. That way you would be able to run ps2 games on your ps3 from the disc. AND if not adding it for free is an option, charge like 10 dollars for it. I bet sony would raise console sales, make a huge amount off of the emulator.

~~whos the noob who chose no b/c on the ps3~~

I do have a ps2 fat and a ps3 fat, however due to a ownership dispute, I can't have both in the same location. I originally purchased a Ps3 for a number of things, one being a blu ray player and a handful of upcoming games. One thing that I really wanted was backwards compatibility because once I move out, I would rather have the convinence of one system that can play 3 platforms worth of games instead of 2. I only have FF7 and a Harvest Moon game for PS1. Allthough I'm happy that I have the ability to play these...I have a larger library of ps2 games that I still play.

Convenience would be for Sony to say here guys have the backwards compatibility, but I won't see this happening unless the ps2 sales drop which doesn't look soon. If they were to add it, sales imo would go up for the ps3. I mean, the ps2 is still a strong console...it just needs to stop being milked and retired.

I think it should be able to play PS1 and PS2 games. But that would probably cost more money D:

*sighs* Sadly I don't even have a PS3. If I did, I would enjoy it much if it had the capability to play PS2 and PS1 games, that would be VERY convenient for me since my family has a quite the collection of PS2 and PS1 games. I'm not quite sure if having a PS3 with that ability would make a difference in my house, since we have a Wii now that pretty much took over the PS2's place (so sad, I haven't beaten Chain of Memories yet! *cries*) and we have limited space for all our game systems. Even though it would be pretty sweet to have a PS3, most of the games that my entire family enjoys to play are now on the Wii. Still doesn't change the fact that I still REALLY want a PS3. By the way, if the rumors are true that they're coming out with a KH3, which system would they put it on, PS3 or Wii?

I don't see why you just use a PS2, it's not hard to switch cables. Plus they only cost $100 now.

I just want sony to use some common sense like the last one. It had B/C with all systems.
I am not interested in Ps1 but my family is so.

    Don't double-post.

My PS2's broken, I have a limited allowance for lunch, no job (can't drive), and I don't want to make my parents cough up the cash for another game system, so it kinda sucks that Sony took out backwards compatibility :<
