I have actual proof that every major news channel lies. If you watched the Colbert Report they had videos of President Obama supposedly not getting involved with gay rights.

BUT if you have famous author/gay rights activist Michelle Belanger on any of your social sites or her site then you would know that Barrack Obama declared June LGBT Pride. month.

First off, people can say or be whoever they want on social networking sites, so that's not really proof.

Second, of course the news lies! That's pretty much what they do - stretch the truth until it begs for mercy in order to get good ratings.

You're just now figuring this out? :D

Sorry, nope. You've got one instance of the news having information that contradicts another source. Nowhere near enough proof for the blanket statement of "The media lies".

Firstly, you need to ascertain that the information provided was false at the time of writing. Then you must look for other instances. They need to be in major papers, and must be genuine lies, not just mistakes or misprints.

Of course, even if it is proven, what newspaper is going to run that sort of story?

All news channels lie in some form. It's nothing new. Whether they have a political slant, drama slant or anything else, it's in some way a lie. Sometimes they completely ignore the real cause of a certain things and instead focus on something that is totally irrelevant. Fox News does that constantly.

    ^ This.

The Colbert Report is a show that is bluntly mocking the media and politics. Relying on it for your everyday news is an incredibly stupid idea.

The media has always been a source that slanders things, takes things out of context etc and skips certain key things they could report but assume no one will care if they do and no one will notice if they don't. Fox News is the most notorious of them all for doing these acts. Best way to get news is to shop around and go to a few sources such as Reuters online, CNN and BBC. For world news, it doesn't hurt to also see if you can get news online from the actual country the news is happening for their local perspectives. If you want humor or to annoy yourself, Fox News is amusing to watch or it makes you want to gouge your eyes out, so be wary. xD

The Daily Show and Colbert Report are great for catching up on news blunders all the time. For comedy shows, they sure can be pretty serious on catching those things and calling out newscasters and stations for being idiots. xD

It's called media bias. It happens often. They use their propaganda to influence people towards one side. That's just how it is.

I always knew that the media was all about getting viwers' attention at homes and the news has brought that to a whole another level. I watch it from time to time and shake my head at what I hear, absorbing the facts and keeping it in the back of my mind. Sometimes it's best not to know everything. There is always going to be some kind of controversary on any subject so it's not worth my time unless it is very important and pertains in my area.
