For one, it won't go into standby anymore. When I close it, it flickers between on and standby. The screen is also very loose. When I open and close it, it's extremely loose, and at the point that it is supposed to stay unless you keep pushing it so it's totally flat, it doesn't stay there. Can someone help?

1.) Is this a regular, a Lite, or a DSi?
2.) When you say flickering between on and standby, do you mean the power light blinks? Because it's supposed to blink on standby.
3.) That last issue sounds like a screw or something is loose on the hinges, or even one of the hinges broke (on my old bulky DS, one of the hinges broke because I dropped it). Does it look off at all?

    1. It's a DS Lite.
    2. No, I mean you can actually hear the sounds from the game. It's like it's turning on and off in rapid succesion.
    3. It doesn't look like it's off at all. All I know is that it is really loose.

I suggest fully checking all around the hinges of your DS,then jiggle it,not too much.I don't think it can be fixed,I haven't seen any types of screws in the hinges,so I think it's best to get a new one. That's my final answer.

Are you sure there's no way to take it apart? I really can't afford a new DS right now.

I've seen alot of dissasembling vids, and it's not easy at all, trust me.But,maybe take it somewhere to be fixed,or send it.I do'nt know if Nintendo ca help.If you had a warranty, you could get a new one for free.

Take it to an electrical store of some sort and see if they can do anything... If not, you may have to get a new ds, even if you can't afford it...

Agreed, take it to an electrical store, of any kind, and see if they can help with your DS, if the cannot help it one bit, well, you'll just have to buy a new one, even if you can't afford it.

Well, I did call Nintendo and they said that since it's only just out of its warranty they can give me a $25 discount for repair. That brings the price down to $57.50. I'm still gonna check Gamestop to see if they can fix it for less, or if a used DS costs less.

Used DS does not cost less, they make it over a hundred bucks. You'd best take the other offer, I'm using a used DS and it costed over $120 to buy it.

I think that you either need to get it repaired or byuy a new one. Personally, I would take it to Gamestop and ask them where you can get it repaired.

Well, I turned it off, recharged it, and then the standby problem was fine, and the problem with the hinge isn't really worth $50 to fix. But I still might try to find out if Game Stop can repair it. The wierd thing is that the lady from Nintendo said that they would treat it as if it were still in warranty and give me a $25 discount.

I'm just going by my DS but it looks like you could probably tighten the screws with a eyeglass screwdriver, if that's the issue. A piece of plastic might of broke off somewhere...
