Sony Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 Confirmed to Be the Last Game for the PlayStation 2

According to some news, there will be no more PS2 games after P.E.S. 2012 is released on Nov. 15, 2011.

I don't have an article link, as I just saw this on another forum, but that's a gist of it.

i'm actually surprised it took this long for PS2 games to stop since the PS3 came out in 2006. the gamestops i visited actually don't have a new section for PS2 games anymore but i had no idea there were PS2 games still being made to this day.

Last PS2 game I got was Odin Sphere or Final Fantasy XII. How long ago was that? Ah, memories.
GAME is getting rid of their PS2 sections (what little they have left)...and I don't want to buy PS2 games at CEX. The discs would never work.

And yet, the last game is a soccer game. The game better be good enough to send the PS2 off.

 

The Gamestops by me are definitely unloading their PS2 games, they're all $2 or $3 now. Good for picking up some oldies but goodies. =]

I too am surprised the PS2 made it this far! 11 years is a damn good run.

 

Guess I better by Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 before they start getting sold on ebay for 30 bucks.

 

I am happy about this. They dragged out the ps2 for way too long. They should have ended on a good note.

This saddens me, my PS2 was one of the best systems I've ever had and my favorite. I play most of my old games on the PS3 now, but I remember fondly playing the great games that the PS2 had in it's prime. I have wondered why it's taken this long to stop making games for it(see the gamecube getting cut awhile ago), just proves how successful of a system it was.
