I saw this film called Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time It was okay. Nothing groundbreaking was in the film. And the only similarities it had to the game were some names and the knife. Everything else is different. It has all of the cliches of an action film based in the imperial age. Main character has an amazing ability in fights and has power over some soldier guys. But then everything is taken away from him. A bit like Maximus in Gladiator. And he can fly. The leading lady is the gem of the world according to rumours, and she has a major part to play in the plot. And then they go on an adventure to take down the system. And they run into Timon and Pumba. Apart from Pumba never smiles once and throws knives at the main man's groin. And there is a massive plot twist conspiracy. Followed by the two leads changing their adventure to take down this one man. Go and see it if you like kung fu intense unarmed fighting. And ninjas. And the Gladiator film. And unrealistic abilities. And assassins. And free running And flying men.
I'm watching this movie for glorious Chesty Jake. He's just so damn adorable. You don't go into a videogame inspired movie expecting a faithful interpretation, you're supposed to go in expecting a decent action flik and that way your hopes won't be crushed.
Even though I haven't played the game, I still want to watch this movie. I'm hoping I can watch it next weekend. The movie doesn't seem so bad and it actually seems like it'll be pretty good so I'm going to watch it.
I've played the most recent game and I can already tell that Disney screwed up some stuff (the film is partially made by Disney). I might go see it anyway but only because the Prince is hot.
This is on my list to watch. I don't like the changes I"m hearing about though. I didn't think Gyllenhal (sp?) had the right attitude about him for the prince, but he looked the part.
There's a thread about the movie already. Possibly several. All I know is that the movie can't be any better than the game. SoT Series>Other games of its kind. I've been waiting years for this movie. I'm seeing it on Saturday. It will feel the judgment of a massive PoP fan. <<
^ This. ^ And this. Sure, it's an interpretation and people who have played the game wont be able to not make comparisons. But when it goes from a video game to a movie, you can't expect it to be that close the original thing. The best thing to do is to see it and forget that it was a video game.
I saw it too. I played all of the Prince of persia games and I can say that's my favourite game.I played the first game(Sands of Time) when i was 6.Since then I am a Prince of Persia fan.And Jake Gyllenhaal is sooo cute! :)
Saw the movie today. It stood pretty close to the game itself. A few things could've made it better. Hourglass instead of a stone. Sand monsters. Less assassins(although they were badass), less characters(the new characters were nice though), and the prince being of noble blood. The movie was done in a way that a sequel that stays close to the second game can be made. It'll be a little odd to see a time skip of seven years but the game did it too. The movie passed my fanboy test. I'm a massive PoP fan and I approve of this message. XD
Honestly a big problem for the character was that no one could find a right character, excluding the first games, In my opinion I hated the Final Fantasy dropout Prince. So I think he could give a little bit better ground for the character.
I haven't played the game, but I think this film is very good!!>w< Dastan's cute lol Tamina is cute too lol XD Seso too, Anita too!!XDDDD
I thought the film was pretty decent. It was like the game storywise but it expanded it quite a bit. I found fillers at a number of parts, and I thought the dialogue was quite basic and not elaborate enough to engage me a in the characters. Though I thought the humour was simple but effective, that emu racer made paying to watch it worth it. I'd say a 4 for fans of PoP, but a 3 for newcomers.
I loved the movie :O I thought the music was great, the acting was fairly decent, and The effects were... decent. I loved it. I would go see it again. Spoiler I thought the Prince should've stayed dead though. He does in the game. It was still a great movie though.. Prince of Persia was <3
