What do you guys prefer and why? There are examples in the poll.

I prefer the numerical format with no leading zeros and the full year (e.g., 7/25/2012) simply because it's short and easy to write up, and I don't like the leading zeros because I've never understood what they're for.

Do you also prefer to add the day, too (e.g., Wednesday, 7/25/2012). Also, for those that prefer the written out format, do you prefer the full text (e.g., Wednesday) or abbreviations (e.g., Wed.)?

Wednesday, 7-25-12. I know the numbers well, but not often the days well. (My PC also covers the time though and I like that)

It is more organized and completed. I am also not found with MONTH/DAY format, since I've been using DAY/MONTH for all my life, but I was able to get used to it (in Brazil it is DAY/MONTH/YEAR).

25/7/12. Day/month/year, that's the best order and format. Not month/day/year or year/day/month or month/year/day and stuff.

I've always done 7/25/12. Though I agree that 25/7/12 makes a whole lot more sense, I have to stick with what is culturally acceptable in my country. :/

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 is my preferred way of writing it.

Since I've started preparing for my move to China, though, I've found myself writing the date as 2012/07/25 as that is how they date things there. Most of the forms I've had to fill out had me writing the date that way.

I choose 7/25/2012, because I feel it's an easier way of writing July 25, 2012

    Month/Day/Year.

It just makes more sense to me because you're going from the smallest scale to the largest.

7/25/12. It's just beaten into my head that *that's* how I need to write a date.

Day/Month/Year, same reason as SJ really, how I was raised, so it's the only thing that looks correct to me.

I'm sorry, but this confuses me. Since when is a day larger than a month?

There are only 12 months, but up to 31 days. So days are numerically larger(I think that's what he means)

    Day/month/Year

As others have said, its the way I was taught and it'll forever be the way I lay out my dates.

I used to write it as Month/Day/Year, till I was in 9th grade, when my English Teacher used that date format. She was a Lieutenant in the army at one point, and that's what they used, clicked with me since them.

I prefer the even more old fashioned British/European way. However, even though I prefer DD/MM/YYYY in real life, on the internet I prefer 25 July 2012. That way there is absolutely no confusion for either Americans or Europeans as to which format is being used if there is an ambiguous date such as 4/8/2012.

I prefer the day/month/year method as it is logically the best way of writing it. However, I always right my dates month/day/year, as they have been pounded into my head over and over through out my entire school career.

Also, just wondering but should this not be in the discussion section?
