Pray for me

in 24 hours, literally, I am having my 3rd piano recital. And I'm playing One-Winged Angel. I need help. I don't really have stage fright, it's more that I worry about messing up, and then I might. I know I shouldn't think that, but with a bunch of eyes starring at me, I can't help it. The song isn't even really all that hard. Funky, yes, but not hard. Think I can get a little support?

You should've done something else besides that.

 

Why? It's the best song I know right now that is fun and epic. All my other songs are like 1 minute. I didn't memorize much this year, so I just reremembered One-Winged Angel so I could play it

I play a different version, and that skipped a bit right at the beginning. When I get the time, I'm recording what I know and showing you what I play. Technically I could play Re:member from naruto, which is harder, but it's so hard I have not been able to play that once without messing up. I mess up on One-Winged Angel, yes, but not like Re:member. I might show that some day too if I decide to. Everytime I play it my wrists actually hurt from the notes and speed

I tried watching this, but I couldn't get past the halfway point. That was overexaggerated in way too many ways to count. If you were to listen to the song, so many of those parts need to be taken out it's not funny. My version isn't that exaggerated, and it follows the song pretty well. Almost note by note. It's not as complicated, but that's because the sheet music isn't from some place that tried to add some "fun" to it

 

Good luck, I know it can be scary but once you start, just get into the music and ignore the crowd completely. Some people like to pretend the crowd are in their underwear, but personally I would just pretend they aren't there.

 

Yeah, that's what I basically do. And who pretends the crowd is in their underwear? That's disconcerting on so many levels

 

You've never heard of that. I've personally never liked that advice, but it is a classic. The idea (at least as I've always heard it) is that you wouldn't be able to take anyone heckling you in their underwear seriously and thus not care what anyone in the audience thinks of you and could just focus on what you need to do. Instead it is horribly distracting.

 

I would think it would be distracting. I wouldn't be able to focus on my music at all if I did that

My advice is one taken from theater. There are no mistakes. If anything happens that you didn't want or expect, don't waste a moment worrying about it. Just role with the punches and let it all happen.

 

no kidding. You should have seen what happened last year. Just for a second I completely forgot how to play the song, so there was a moment of silence. Kinda creepy actually

 

I know right? I think I'd be more distracted if anything, plus clothes are a good look O.o
