Pornography harmful?

I know it isn't likely, but the very nature of porn is 'sexual fantasy', where you can do anyhthing sexual you like. Some rape, is just for the fulfilling of sexual fantasies that you may think of, read of or even seen in porn films, others are because some feel inadecuit in their normal life and then you have people who just want sex and don't care how they get it.
Can't blame porn for all the misdeeds in the world, same as movies or video games, but on the rarist of ocassions, blame can be put on such things.

 

No PAW, the blame cannot be put on such things. It is the blame of the -person-. Porn is not sending out subliminal controlling messages to people to go try to rape a girl because in the end, she'll come around and like it and be all down with it. Romance novels aren't telling girls with mind control that they should want a big strong guy that tries to rape them but later they like the person so it's okay. Video games aren't teaching people to go shoot up others at school through a remote control.

The blame is -always- on the person. If blame spreads out from there, look at the family, the friends of the person that may have pushed them.

In the end, the only people I ever worry about things sending messages to really comes down to the mentally unstable that are not treated. Schizophrenia is notorious for making people hear mental thoughts in their heads and associating them with other things outside of their heads because that's the way the condition works. Dementia can make people see and feel certain ways and their perceptions can be off. Some people that have taken hard core mind altering drugs are also a risk. For the majority of people out there, if they do the behavior of rape etc, it's not by inspiration of some form of entertainment.

 

Harmful meaning it can corrupt the minds of people. Worse if used in practice. So BAD.

 

So do a bunch of video games.

 

Video games, music, movies, television, and any other kind of media for that matter is the same way.

 

I dont think porn is harmful at all, depending on the way you take it...if you watch it and follow the postions and such with your lover. Thats fine, it refreshes your love life and brings spice in the sex. But if you do it in a sick manner *IE-Child Porn, Rape...ETC.* then it will harm others in the process

 

I don't think it's bad when used as a guide or if whoever wants to use it as an aid, then I suppose it's okay. Though with all things there's a point when too much is bad, and the same goes for porn. Using it in a matter that exploits people is also bad. But in general, if some one wants to use it, go for it if they wish.

 

Porn is bad for people who are mentally unstable, and of course for children who are too young for things like that. It can lead to addiction only in certain types of people.
Of course, internet porn is harmful in that it can lead to all sorts of viruses.
It may lead to drugs in people with addictive personalities, but as for terrorism...WHAT?

Look, despite these negative things, pornography is a form of art which does lots of positive things such as:
1.) Make lots of money and help the economy
2.) Help people spark their relationships
3.) Educate the uneducated...
4.) It's like the ultimate thing to do when you're bored.

the list goes on and on.

I enjoy my pr0nz as much as anyone else does, and I don't feel any shame for it. And if you do, you shouldn't.

 

Well actually the other day a kid in my English class had to do a speech on illegal shipping of movies and stuff like that, you know, downloading movies and all illegally. I guess what he said about it sorta relates to porn in a way too. He basically said that illegal movies help the people selling them to gain money, to get into all sorts of stuff like drugs. I mean, no offense, but you don't have to do much to get into the porn industry, so most of the people that do get into it are sorta well layabouts and stuff, they can easily slip into the drug stuff as well.

I myself don't have a problem with porn, just as long as people don't get too into it eg. Sexual Abuse, Stalking, etc.

As for the whole terrorism thing I really don't know how porn helps with that xDD

 

It depends on the type of pornography. Child porn and bestiality is obviously sick and it exploits and harms the children and animals. However, pornography isn't really a bad thing. There used to be a time when kids knew and saw sex all the time, because it's part of nature. Hell, if you had an erection, you had to have sex because it was considered wrong not to. And if your wife wasn't around, you did it to whoever was closest. Sex was no secret. So, it's part of nature. Pornography isn't a bad thing. But now that sex isn't as accessible as it once was, pornography is probably one of the better alternatives, the other one being sex dolls and toys. And it's enjoyable. Nothing bad about it.

 

I think pornography's healthy :)

Normal Porn. None of that sick child stuff.

Nothing to do with drugs. Sure, they say it does, but the two have no relation, unless your refeering to the 70's Rock and roll goes with sex and drugs.

 

Porn isn't healthy, per se, but it's not harmful unless it's viewed by someone who's not mentally ready to see something like that. It can destroy what the real act of making love is and they'll think it's pretty much what happens in the porn.

The real act of making love is a beautiful thing that two people can share with each other. To make a deep and soulful connection with one-another. It's not just how deep she can throat you.

Also, masturbation has been proven to be healthy for you. It relaxes you and is a good stress reliever, when not overused.

People who believe that porn is harmful are just Bible-thumping preachers who think they are saving your soul by trying to get rid of anything that they don't like in the world.
