Oh god, what is this world coming too? Since the Pope said it, mostly all Catholics believe this now >>

    Oh, just a little. xD

Anyway, to the post below that (which I'm too lazy to quote), it isn't necessarily true that all Catholics will believe that. Sure, there are some sheep who will believe anything the Pope says, but there are plenty of people who think for themselves within the Catholic religion. I probably don't count cause I'm not a very good Catholic, but I know there are others like me. Just cause you're part of a religion doesn't mean you believe everything your leader says. Anyone who blindly follows what their leader says without thinking for themselves is an idiot. I hope no one is offended by this post, though I'm not sure why they would be. Either way, I'm apologizing in advance.

Envious is right enough. In my home country of Brazil, from what I've been reading, a lot of people don't pay much attention to what the Pope says and think you can be good christians and catholics without following his every advice or order.

Homosexuality is not a choice someone makes. One's sexuality is determined in their genes, before they are even born. The choice is whether one chooses to accept it or not.

I am Gay, and Catholic, but when it comes down to being hurt by the words of the "Mouthpeice of God" (which in all retrospect, i dont like and trust) being gay is not a choice, if i could become a woman loving man i would, but i cant, ive always been this way, some it makes me mad when people think its a choice...think about this before you say its a choice again

Would anyone willingly want to be hated against? would anyway want to be beaten because they like someone? would anyone want to harrased because of who they like?

no, so with that its not a CHOICE...its pre-determend

Thank you and you others who pointed this out. I am straight, so I unfortunately cannot sympathize, but people need to realize that homosexuality is not a choice, it is PURELY GENETIC. The pope has no right to speak this way, and it makes me ashamed to be a Catholic.

Well, I doubt it is purely genetic but genes are certainly an extremely important (and probably the main cause) part of it but environmental factors can also play a part.

It is certainly not a choice now (unless you are talking about bisexuality then I have no clue xD).

Yes, because the human race is endangered and oh so underpopulated.

Why do they have such a problem with it? I mean, jeez, they pick on them to the point where it hurt. Because that's just so Catholic and loving. There's always going to be those perverted sex lovers out that Mr. Pope. We aren't going to disappear because of gays. Even if we did, it's not going to hurt any other animals, am I wrong?
