As an updated bit of info that I just discovered; Ninfia is the lightest Eeveelution so far. Quite a useful trait for something of the Flying type.
The only thing that throws me off is that in one of the pictures released of Ninfia, it sparkles. Now, it could just be to highlight the fact that it's a new one and that we should be focusing on the fact that it'll be starring in the special, but something tells me there's something very special about Ninfia that we haven't heard about yet.

In a more general post about X and Y, I'm wondering if we'll see any other new branching evolutionary paths. I get the feeling that Male and Female divergence might be more prominent this gen, in-keeping with the theme, but whether that will mean more gender differences or entirely different lines, I'm not sure. Hoping for the latter to keep things interesting.

The image is broken for me. But the fact that it is the lightest does aid the fact of flying. It also seems like one of the smallest. Eevee itself is only 1 foot as well.

As for the evolution chains. Gen II and Gen IV both evolved and devolved current Pokemon significantly. Its only fair to say that they will get a lot more detailed about it.

One more bit of information for the time being. Though its Type remains a mystery, Ninfia's English name is now revealed to be Sylveon.

Just a video of Sylveon (love that name)
this may help to guess what she is.

Usually the first half can reveal what the type is. However this time I am "stumped". Sylv can come from the word sylvan but this means to do with woods or being pleasantly rural. My guess is best as yours.

She looks like a Flying-type still. All those moves resemble Air Cutter in a way.

Did no one else instantly think Moon Stone evolution?
Sylveon looks similar to Jigglypuff and Clefairy in colour and parts of the design.
I would've guessed it as a Normal type.

I still have to disagree strongly. While alone it does slightly resemble other Normal-types, the fact is that it looks very different from Eevee itself. Look at all other evolutionary paths that keep their typing, and they look similar. There's a natural progression in their looks. Eevee to Sylveon keeps practically nothing of it's original look, so I am positive that it's a type change.
Still standing by Flying for the time being.

My first thought was using the moon stone to evolve eevee to a normal branch.. but that would make no sense as they had to give an explanation to why you can't evolve your eevee in previous generations as we had that stone all along.. I am beating it will evolve with a expecific trade (like a female eevee X male eevee both using an expecific iten) or an evolution that needs to be made in somewhere expecific like the moss stone, etc...

The last attack seemed to me to be SWFIT:

It is a normal attack.. that could mean it's type, but then again everybody can use normal attacks.

It is possible that Swift could in fact be a TM this time around again. And do note that it could learn Swift back in gen IV via move tutor. This time around Eevee could even learn the attack from leveling up in its first form. Many ways for the little fox.

Another scene in this sneak peek shows Sylveon using what looks like Trump Card, which is a move Eevee learns leveling up. It seems like they've gone out of their way to not give anything about its typing away. :s

I'm personally still holding out for Flying, though I can see it being a Normal-type instead.

Before anybody makes assumptions about the new Pokémon, I just make sure the following is known:

Despite the resemblance, the new Pokémon has not been stated to be a Forme of Mewtwo at this time.
It also has not been stated to be Mewthree, or otherwise related to Mew or Mewtwo in a different way.
Lastly, while it is clearly a Psychic type from what the trailer showed, its official typing hasn't been confirmed either.
The only thing we know is that it is a new Pokémon or a new Forme of an existing Pokémon, and what it looks like.

Just making sure nobody falls for rumours or anything.

I still suspect it to be a new Mewtwo form. It looks far too similar to Mewtwo and is also part of the new Genesect movie where Mewtwo is the main role as well as Genesect. They would emphasize Mewthree if it were really a new one entirely. Looks pretty bad ass though and this could also mean a return for Mewtwo in SSB4.

It's not a forme of Mewtwo, I'll bet 7,000 Silver Eagles on that. They wouldn't do something that stupid.

I'm guessing this means we'll be getting back some more genetic experimentation storylines, which I for one am welcome to :>

I figured since it was a mewtwo form, considering that is has to do with the next Pokemon movie, and Mewtwo and Genesect have a role to play in that game. Besides, what's wrong with giving mewtwo a new form? He was formed from genes and all that, so why not be able to have a different form?

Ok, not a Pokémon nut, but let me think this. When a Pokémon has multiple forms it usually is there to compensate for their 'weaknesses'. If a Pokemon like Mewtwo who is a big Special Attack and Defence kind of guy, his alternate form would be big for Attack and Defence. This one looks more the former, more like Mewtwo, but bigger, better, more powerful, more cosmic and alien even.
I say evolution mainly because of this.

But legendaries don't evolve. It's a stated fact that they don't, and on top of that, the new Pokémon looks younger than Mewtwo does. The most likely thing for it to be is Mewthree, or some other thing related to Mew and Mewtwo in that sort of way.

Okay, apparently Nintendo came out saying that it is in fact a new Pokemon and is related to Mewtwo someway but not through being a new form.

Source? My sources don't say anything about that.
