Well, I see what you mean, but if you read what he actually says, it is about the evolutionary family of the starters.

 

But surely that falls in the general disscussion thread? We could talk about it in there as easily a here.

Just an update guys. CoroCoro and Smash are going to have new information for us in the next couple of days. I will keep you posted on what the announcements hold.

 

One silhouette is already revealed, but beyond that we have no idea. Rumours say that the Pokémon could be called Ninfia, but this is purely rumour.

Ninfia is a new confirmed Pokemon. Apparently it's the Flying evolution for Eevee

Hahaha...Well, that would be amusing...But no.

Their's also speculation on Marriland.com about whether or not there is going to be new types, such as light, and whether or not Ninfia is light type.

 

Light type is not even slightly likely. Psychic and Fighting are already Dark type's opposite, and in the first place Dark type is Evil type in Japan, making the most common reasoning for Light typing completely redundant.
If they focus on Light as in the spectrum, you're basically getting into senses then, and you might as well have Sound type too, which is already basically represented by Normal in most cases.
Lastly, it's worth noting that Ninfia resembles Skyla, features all of the colours of the daytime sky on it's body, has a name that can be linked to the Breezes of Greek mythology, and its "ribbons" appear to be flowing in some kind of wind. All things point so far to Flying type. However, there is also no reason for them to hide it's type if it's an already-existing one, and the colouration doesn't match any of the pre-existing Flying types.
I am certain that it's not Normal type, however, as many keep speculating. A Normal-type evolution of Eevee would be deemed as a "natural" evolution for it, since it's type wouldn't change, and thus it's appearance would be far more similar to Eevee itself.

 

Well, light and dark could just be Light and Dark like in KH, right? Fighting and Psychic ARE both it's opposites, but so is Ghost, right? Whatever, doesn't matter. We'll find out when the game comes out. BUT you are right in saying that Ninfia resembles Skyla...so Flying type is best guess in fact.

 

No please, no more types in the game. The combinations of strengths and weaknesses between the existing types are just fine as is, and throwing in any new types would just complicate things, along with the fact that it would probably mean a majority of the new Pokemon would have to be that new type just so they have some presence at all.

Ninfia is pretty obviously Flying type anyway. DarkTraitor explains it well, and it just seems natural to finally get an Eeveelution for that. Here's hoping they also give Eevee a Fighting type as well.

 

That would be awesome as long as they didn't make another Flareon (unless in this game they give Flareon Flare Blitz or something.)

 

...why would there even be another Flareon? They already have a Fire Eeveelution. There's no purpose to make another at all.

Well I'm sure the same was said when they introduced the Steel and Dark types, but you're right in that we've gone 650 'mons without whatever any new type could be, and they would either have to retcon a huge number of the old mons to be that type, or they'd have to make almost the entire generation be that type, for it to be a viable choice. The only bad thing about the current matchups is that Poison is very much an outclassed type, being super effective to only one type that both Fire and Flying are super effective against already, and having a weakness to two popular types. If they ever did change it up, I'd want them to at least give Poison type something that the other types don't as an edge.

For Eeveelution types, I honestly think that Fighting or Rock make most sense. Whenever we've been given a pair of Eeveelutions, one has always been super-effective against the other. Dark vs Psychic, Ice vs Grass, even the originals had Electric vs Water vs Fire.
Also here's hoping they add some extra Physical fire-type moves that make Flareon actually useful this time.

 

When they introduced Steel and Dark, it was only the 2nd generation, and they only had 151 before those were introduced (and some of the originals become Steel-type anyway due to the addition of hybrid typing.) But you understand what I'm getting at. What Poison needs to me are more trump moves that would make using their types actually viable on a team, like Sludge Bomb, Poison Jab, and Toxic.

 

I think it will be a female evolution of the normal eevee there must be male also

I seriously am all for a new type within the game but I no longer wish to speculate what it could be. I do not care if they don't either. Now as for the new eon (Refuse to call it by its japanese name), I have to agree with DT about it being a flying type. I have seen speculation on Bug and Normal types and I just do not see it whatsoever. Flying for a long time has been a fan request. I believe Fighting has also been a fan request but I do not believe this is at all a fighting eeveelution.
