...did you guys miss my post, discussing Xerneas and Yveltal as possibly being related to North and South, and the Z legendary probably representing the river that would connect the two?

And here's another fanart theory of the starters

The only games where your rival was the antagonist was Red/Blue and Gold/Silver, as well as their remakes. Gen III's rivals were more of friends, one of which you battled twice (and started with a Ralts) and the only you only had to battle four times and his/her last team consisted of Pokemon in the low 30s. You never even saw their starter fully evolved. Black and White featured two rivals, one of which had the starter yours had the advantage over and, ironically, she's considered to have the better team.

In Gen I, the main story was about Red becoming champion. Team Rocket was a sub-plot. In Gen II, the story was about the aftermath of Gen I and Gold's quest to beat Red. Team Rocket was, again, a sub-plot. In Gen III, Team Aqua/Team Magma was the primary story. In Gen IV, Team Galactic was also the primary story. In Black/White, Team Plasma was, you guessed it, the main story. In Black/White 2, the story was mostly about the aftermath of Black/White.

Not to mention that the purpose of the rival in terms of gameplay mechanics is to give you a boss to test to see if you're leveled sufficiently and are ready to advance in the game.

And even more not to mention that the starter isn't meant to determine how hard your rival is, it is meant to be a centerpiece for your team. Something multi-type starters can achieve much more easily than single-type starters.

Those aren't too bad. Not great, but not bad. And am I the only one that sees the 2nd evolution of the fire starter as walking on its paws like a monkey?

Again, everyone is saying X and Y will be genetics base. Do know that X and Y can mean several different things. X and Y are both points on a graph with Z being the 3D aspect which would make sense being that this will be on the 3DS: 3 dimension's, X,Y and Z.

As I said earlier in my post on page 6 that was apparently ignored, X and Y can also mean Life and Death. Don't just assume it will be genetics. What will they do for a sequel if it is genetics? X2 and Y2? I don't think so. Z isn't genetic either so this chromosomal thing just needs to be put aside and other possibilities should be explored.

It is genetic based, as proven by the DNA shape in the Japanese logos. In addition; Z and W are in fact both chromosomes that are found outside of human genetics, as well as both referring to types of measurements in 3D space.

So give us the confirmation that the plot is thus genetics-based.

I didn't say anything about the plot, just the themes revealed so far. My evidence for what I said is this.

Well, the themes usually have a lot to do with the plot is all.

And it very likely will do so, but I'm just saying what we know for sure.

Anyway, this isn't official artwork, but a rather nice image of the female protagonist, based off of the overworld model we've seen of her. If the final design does look like this, I'm certain to choose her as my player character. What are all your thoughts?

I quite like her design, it just seems to fit the new region perfectly (based on what we've seen).

I agree. The design perfectly fits with the whole European theme they're going with in the game

I honestly find it boring. Way too...ordinary, might just be my personal taste though

Well, it's not the worst design out there, but it's a little too plain for me. I mean, May didn't have much either, but even her's seemed to have a little more going for it. I do like how it's European-like

I see what you mean, your rival is more of a friend in later games. The thing is in B/W 2 I feel they just threw the concept out the window. I do see the logic in your post but I felt the 3/4/5(part of)gen games still held links to your rival and still kept that loath for him/her, but in B/W 2 I really didn't care about him at all. The same story got boring the first time we heard it,"My sister's purrlion was stolen, I must have my revenge", yea, yea boo hoo, you even said that the point of the rival is to act as a boss, so if they only make you fight him 2 times, that isn't staying true to the previous games. The evil organizations can be either main of sub-plot, I feel that no matter what you do with them that all felt the same, but your rival has a charm about him/her that makes him such a fun trainer to compete with.

I can seen myself wanting this generation but not if continues the Generation V trend of throwing buckets of potential out the window by stuffing it in useless multiplayer content. I read White's instruction booklet for the heck of it and found the better part of it explaining functions (C-Gear, Xtransceiver,...) that are only relevant if you have a dozen friends who also play Pokémon. I can see why it would appeal to the target audience, but personally I can do without it. So yeah, I hope X and Y steer clear from that shite.

Oh, and if this game doens't have a Dark Gym I will riot.
But yeah, I too am looking forward to more information. I think the Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark and Water/Fighting combinations would work well. As for the Legendaries, I have trouble even guessing their types. Xerneas could be part Grass, part Ice or part Steel for all I know. As for Yveltal, Dark/Flying seems to be obvious but other combinations come to mind as well. A Poison-type Legendary would be cool. They don't have that yet if I'm not mistaken.

Okay, I'm really excited for this game! I really, really hope that you can catch Riolu early like you could in B/W 2. I would be so happy if that were possible. I also hope for character customization! That would be so amazing...
