Are you ****ing kidding me? An updated N64 game? Really? Take a look at the character models in this, then look at OoT. These are not as blocky as the OoT models. OoT textures are muddier, while these appear far more crisp (they also look flat, but they're still cleaner looking). The draw distance is better. To say that this looks worse than an N64 game is laughable. It looks "blocky" because of the art style, which is clearly meant to be an attempt to recreate what they were doing with the previous games.

Not to mention that we're looking at the first screenshots from the first trailer and that it looks much better in motion than it does in the screen shots.

Also, minor thing to point out, but this is also Game Freak's first game on 3DS hardware.

Lets see. My opinion on what I have seen so far, I like it a lot. I enjoy the 3D Pokemon and the envirement. I am excited about these two MYSTerious legendaries that will be shown. However, the playable characters themselves do not seem that appealing. They appear bloky which throws me off a bit in appeal. I will get the game still for I may just enjoy them later on. The battle system I really enjoy. I think it is much more improved.

Originally when I thought gen VI, I thought something like XD or Colosseum graphics but I did not receive. Although the 3DS could handle it, it may be better to go this much more simple method. Won't know until more is released however.

Because OoT 3D used the exact same models as the N64 game. If you don't mean that, it sure sounds like your implying it.

I like the new battle system, the only real update since the earlier games is the grass/water underneath the sprites. I agree with the graphics looking pixelated, but I'm hopeful that they'll look better once the game is out and actually running on the 3DS. Something tells me this game will be very good. I wasn't really excited about Black and White and their sequels, maybe the new gameplay is something I've been hoping for.

I'm just wondering how much of a pain it was to animated each move like they did. I mean, for the attack the toad used, which I'm thinking might be quick attack or something else, it actually moved - MOVED I TELL YOU!!! - and it attacked, unlike previous installments where they just sorta twitched and attacked

BTW......am I the only one that thinks the grass starter looks like a grass version of Oshawott?

Since when are graphics so important for a Pokemon game? As I recall Pokemon games have never been at the pinnacle of graphical engineering no matter what system they were on.

Sprites can be endearing without being graphically advanced. With 3D graphics, it's another story. Since everyone uses 3D graphics, your game is set up to be compared to others. I really hope they stylize the game properly so that it's art style outshines any graphical prowess mishap.

A small note about the graphics: The overworld looks sort of blocky, but the battles look a lot better and detailed. I actually hope the overworld isn't as jagged as the video makes it seem.

I also think the reason the trainers look plain, is because you can customize them. I REALLY hope this is the case.

I don't really think you do need to customize your character. I think they have done this whole massive 3D approach is to really set your expectations for the game super high. The character models in pokémon are plain, but since it's a bird's eye view, you don't really notice, but since this in full 3D with the background leaping out at you, the notice how you look, bland.

Wait, you can customize your character in this one? I thought that all the characters were default and you just chose between male and female. Why would they change it this time?

I don't know. I said, I think. As to why they would change it? In the newer games you could choose a trainer sprite for certain things. This would be taking it a step further.

Oh I know, I just found it interesting that once Pokemon came to a system that's known for having higher quality graphic capabilities, that the graphics for the Pokemon games are now being debated, which as far as I know had previously not even been a relevant topic.

Personally, I don't really need the 3d graphics. Sure they are nice and I'm not against them, but I would be perfectly fine with more of the same.

I found this trailer which has a lot of interesting stuff. Specially how the video purposely showcases the starters doing two attacks. One of their main type and one other apparently being of their secondary type.It seems they're really going to try out new type combinations.

That is rather funny. Predicted some of that stuff myself. But its a good breakdown for others. Some stuff I didn't think of.
