It should have evolved into Soul Edge.

But seriously, as Honedge is a possessed sword I can't think of too many reasons for it to evolve. It's not like ghosts of people can warp objects. But yeah I feel they kinda miss an opportunity with some ideas you can do with a possessed sword's evolved forms, like elongating or something. But I'm okay with it being two swords.

I'm still under the impression that Honedge is one of the best original Pokémon around, because a possessed sword that can drain the life out of people who hold it is something you'd hear in a song from a metal album.

In what way, exactly, is it any different? Magnemite evolves by joining with two other Magnemite with zero other changes. In Pokémon Stadium games they weren't even joined, they just floated around with each other. Honedge joins with another Honedge, changes colour, and has a slightly different hilt, with the scabbards also fused by some kind of small shield-like part from what I can see.
Doublade has more far more going for it than Magnemite in terms of creativity. Were it exactly the same, I'd agree, and I'll still agree that they could have done a lot more with the idea, but trying to say that Magneton is more creative is just totally not true even disregarding personal opinions.

Some info on new mechanic changes and other stuff:
    • Pokémon gain experience even when the opposing wild Pokémon is caught (as stated in another interview). A caught Pokémon gives the same experience points as a defeated one.
    • Sky Battles are limited to Flying-type Pokémon and those with the Levitate Ability (as previously confirmed). Some moves can't be used.
    • There is an adjustment to the inheritence system of breeding.
    • Ghost-type Pokémon can freely escape from battle without being influenced by Shadow Tag. (The official website mentioned trapping moves.)
    • The item Exp. Share will revert to Exp. All as in Generation I, where when one Pokémon holding this item participates in battle, all other Pokémon in the team receive experience as well. Unlike in Generation I, the experience is not split but rather received by all Pokémon. This means that the participating Pokémon receive 100% experience, while non-participating Pokémon receive 50% experience.
    • When distributing new moves and abilities, priority was given to new Pokémon.
    • The CGI style is different from that of Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Battle Revolution, because those games were supposed to emulate "realism within fantasy". Since the handheld Pokémon series is supposed to be accessible to everyone, battles were made "cuter".
    • The standard selection process for Pokémon to be Mega-Evolvable is based on three points: visual looks, popularity and game balance.
    • The power-up of Mega-Evolved Pokémon is meant to elevate them to the class of legendary Pokémon, hence the restriction of only one Pokémon being allowed to hold a Mega Stone during battles.
    • The timing to Mega-Evolve is selectable.
    • Some moves, with focus on special ones, have had their power and accuracy revamped.

I read somewhere after learning about Doublade that apparently the swords are just one mind possessing both swords at the same time, where as Magneton is three Magnemites that got stuck together.

So who's excited to pay an annual fee so we can transfer pokemon from gen to gen like we've been doing since 2003? =\

You don't have do that though, you can do that without paying the annual fee.
Pokémon bank gives you a ****ton of extra box slots and the ability to transfer Pokémon from multiple different games.
And they're stored on the cloud, not on your 3DS, or on your cartridge.
So say your cartridge, or even your 3DS breaks. All your Pokémon are still safe.
Also, the annual fee is only for the bank service, not for Poké Transporter.
Poké Transporter is a free 3DS app that allows you to transport Pokémon from previous games.

To add onto this, the Poke Tranporter/Pokemon Bank will be useable with all future Pokemon games GameFreak develops, so you won't need to find a whole new DS/3DS system just to send your Pokemon to a new game. And Pokemon Bank is, looking going to be somewhere in the ball park of $5 per year:

So essentially, you get ~30 years of use for a whole bunch of storage for future games for the same value as a new DS system to perform at least one single transfer of Pokemon from 4th generation -> 5th Generation -- basically making the cost very negligible, lol.

Not exactly an announcement or anything, but review copies of X and Y have now been distributed to certain official reviewers, and they are apparently forbidden to talk about the final evolutionary stages of the new starters.
To me, that implies that they've done something special or unusual with them that they want to surprise us with. Or they're just being plain silly about it. With exactly two weeks to go until they're released, I'm sure we'll know soon.

Dang, I really want to know what those final evolutions are. And is it really still 2 weeks away? Gah, I need this game to come out faster. It's been too long since I played a new pokemon game that I found really enjoyable. Which reminds me, I need to get Shadows of Almia again, because that third Ranger game was not that great...same could be said for the mystery dungeon as well.

It's the principle of the matter, not the price. I'm well aware of yen conversion rates.

I've been doing it free for 10 years, I shouldn't have to pay period.

You didn't provide proof. Nintendo said in Pokemon Direct that you NEED Pokemon Bank to get the transporter app.

Oh, you're right, it looks like I misread the website.
But hey, $5 a year is way cheaper than buying a 2nd DS to transfer Pokémon, and you also get all those extra boxes.
Think of it like PS Plus on the PS4. You need it to play multiplayer, but it's cheap and you also get awesome bonuses out of it.

Some leaks of new Pokemon (though I'm not sure of authenticity, so I would recommend taking the following with a grain of salt):

Greninja actually looks really cool, not so sure about the others.
I wonder what all of the Pokéballs on the side of the summary screen mean.

The frog is pretty cool, a little ninja frog. The others aren't that great though.

Probably just this generation's way of showing the placement of the pokemon. So it's probably in the 4th slot
