I'm preordering Y next time I'm at Gamestop I DON'T EVEN HAVE A 3DS

 

I actually like the look of Mega Charizard. It might seem a bit generic, but I kind of like generic. And I actually think the Mega Venasaur looks less impressive than the charizard and blastoise.

I also like the idea of the cloud storage, especially being able to link up with other DS games, but I hate that it has an annual fee. I want to get a kanto starter as well as their mega evolutions, but I won't be paying for the cloud storage, there's other things I can save up for

 

It's only $5 for each year. That translates to $0.42 each month. I'm pretty sure you're not going to be spending enough on that to lose out on anything that great, but whatevs.

 

Hey, every bit counts. Besides, I don't play enough for needing the cloud storage. The most I'd get out of it is being able to link with the other DS games as well as the Kanto Starters. But even if that's the case, I don't do enough with other people anymore that it'd make much of a difference

 

$5 in one year...I just don't get how that even matters. They could easily have gone much higher, and they could have forced you to keep doing it the old way with having two different systems.

But anyways, I'm pretty sure there will be a free trial. You should be able to get your older Pokemon in that amount of time and then just cancel.

My only complaint is that my favorite Kanto starter is Squirtle, but I'd already planned on starting the game out with Froakie. Having two water types on my team wouldn't be a very smart idea, so with that in mind, I'll probably get Froakie and Charmander.

 

Play with your favorites. Having two water-types is okay, it doesn't matter what happens. Use your favorites and don't think about whether you win or lose, think about how you will win with your favorites.

 

As lovely as that sounds, I prefer keeping a well-balanced team. Besides, I have a Blastoise in my copy of Pokemon Black I bet I could transfer over after a while.

 

I would get venusaur, as he got "thick body" being resistant to fire and ice! Also is pretty hard to find a plant pokemon with good stats.

 

Squirtle has always been my weapon of choice and i don't think anything will change

 

I don't see that anybody mentioned this little easter egg. Tell us your thoughts. Theory on typing?

 

Ice/Normal maybe? I'm saying Ice because of the fur all over the thing, and Normal because...well I dunno, neutral colors and such.

 

I'm going to have to call Dark type. Maybe if we're lucky it's a pre-evolutionary form of Absol. They did the same kind of thing with Chansey and Sudowoodo(not fixing that) when 4th generation came out, so why not make another pre-evolution pokemon? I'd actually be amused if I'm right about this

 

What would've blown my mind is if they introduced three starters that weren't all Grass, Fire and Water. I'd like something like Rock, Flying and Grass, idk, something that has a trio of effectiveness and people are having trouble with having a balanced team. But oh well, Megas look alright, still wonder what that'll actually do to stats and moves.
The crossover service is pretty handy and took too long to get a cross generational Pokémon transfer. Good to see, at least.

 

Uh...cross generational Pokemon transfer's been around since Diamond/Pearl dude.

 

Meant a service that is above the generation barrier entirely, the fact it means you can swap from this generation to three into the future instead of to the next in line. A more mobile service.

 

But we don't know if we can just skip generations. It wouldn't make sense though if they changed gameplay like they did in X/Y with the introduction of the Fairy type.

 

It's been around even before that. You could transfer Pokemon from Red/Blue to Gold/Silver once you hit a certain point in the game. You couldn't transfer any of those to Gen 3, though.

 

This is one of my concerns about the Pokemon Bank thing (them changing typings in the future), but apparently they're gonna keep the Bank, at least, updated to work with future installment to Pokemon.

So I'm guessing they might update the typings of the ones in the Boxes if they do change again, but it's probably too early to say at this point.
