Lel that's actually way more prevalent in OU and even then it's died down considerably since gen. IV, where every viable opener was either a hazard setter or a hazard blocker.

If you're looking for something to make fun of in Ubers, try weather. :L It was gen. V several generations before gen. V was gen. V.

Yeah, that's another thing I see a lot of now. I was confused when I saw a Politoed on another guy's team, before realizing OH GOD ITS RAINING BLOOD

Just got some more info off Serebii. We've got the names of those 3 people, and from the looks of it, the other gender character is an actual main character, kinda like with Brenden/May in R/S/E.

So it's basically 4 rivals for different purposes? Weird. Liking that the other Player Character will probably be your main rival, that's always fun.

Yeah, that'd be fricken awesome to be honest. We might just meet some of the others here and there and not fight, but if we're lucky, we might actually have 4 people to fight against, and like they said, the region this time is going to be huge, so I'm betting they'll have reasons for it.

What I'm hoping for is that the other gender character will actually be your main rival and he/she ends up being the champion, like Blue/Gary(depending on what you named him). I'm not letting that go though, because they did great doing that, but there really hasn't been an actual champion battle that has that kind of drama. Sure there's Red in Mt. Silver, but that's not in the league.

I was actually thinking about that! I remember how due to a Mis-translation, Bianca was "supposedly" the Champion at first. By then, I had seen her in the anime and thought it might be fun to have a rival like her be Champ.

As far as the Red thing goes, it was actually pretty dramatic for me to see that he wasnt the Champion in the League. I figured he'd be there because you beat it as him in the other games, but when he wasnt I made it my life's mission to find him.

But if they did that, there wouldn't be any drama, because it's already been done before. It's something we've already seen, and it would dull and boring. But look at Cynthia instead; she was the first female champion, and the first champion that actually actively helped to solve a major event, especially in Platinum, (unless you count Wallace and Steven in RSE showing you where a legendary was, but that wasn't really that much help) and she's one of the most popular champions there's ever been.
No, if they want to make something dramatic, the way is to make things different. That's why Bianca wasn't the champion in BW. It's why Alder retired in BW2. Change is the only way to keep the series going, or it'll just end up like other mainstream games are these days; essentially being the same game every time it's released.

Then call me old-fashioned, because I thought it was cool the old way. And you can't be saying you actually like how they just had Iris be the champion are you? It seemed more like they just put her there so Alder wasn't the champion when I saw that. Kinda like with Red and Lance in a sense. Now Red was still the official champion, but he wasn't there, so Lance took over.

That sounds like nostalgia talking :/

It's explained via Memory Link that Alder was retiring, and the Protagonist (who was in Line to be the next champion) was off looking for N, so Iris stepped up to the plate.

That's not "having her there just so Alder couldn't be there"

It kinda is when you don't have memory link. I will admit, i kinda hate that they made that only an option if you had 2 DS games. It would've been really cool if that was just a normal part of the game. But it still sounds like crap to me, especially since if you did do the memory link, you'd also know that Drayden took Iris so he could train her to be the next champion, not just because of that other reason with Alder.

Oh he did! That's true! I forgot about that!

And you didn't HAVE to have both games. If there was only one existing copy of White/Black, the sequels could all be linked to that ONE copy, and it doesn't have to be Black to Black 2, it can be Black to White 2.

I know all of that, my point being that I didn't like that you needed 2 DS systems at all. I suppose you could use someone else's file, but it was just annoying if you couldn't get online, not too mention not too many people gave out the file number. In fact, I'm still debating of actually buying a Black2/White2 game, since there wasn't much difference from the other game. The plot was more involved, but I didn't think you fought the rival enough, as well as fighting Team Plasma enough. It just seemed rush is all

It was a lot more of a faster pace than White/Black. I got bored of those before the Pokémon League, and with White 2, I felt more pressured (in a good way) to level grind.

Don't get me wrong, I've tried it, on challenge mode especially, and it's made it a lot more challenging (er, dur), which is cool, but I just felt like the game itself might as well have been a 2nd part to the first game. I know it is, but I mean more like a "beat the game, unlock the second part".

You're old-fashioned. No game makes progress by catering to nostalgia-hunters. Games need to attract new fans all the time, or they're going to stop being able to exist. Game Freak, in my opinion, have always done a fantastic job at balancing the old with the new in a way that attracts some new fans while still giving the old fans like myself the good old Pokémon feel that they know and love. And yeah, I can be saying that I liked Iris as the champion, because that seemed like the natural progression for her character. Iris in the games is a fantastic trainer who could have easily been the protagonist of the generation had events gone differently, so that position would have been completely natural for her to reach. And Alder is old. He even hints that he thinks he's too old in BW.

So swords are officially a thing in the Pokémon universe? I feel like they could've made it more animalistic or at least have more 'cute' or appealing features, because of the whole ancient spirit which should make it a bit more human in some way?
Might just be me, but if you make Pokémon out of real objects, you should make them less object like and more alive.

I think the closest they got to real object was Rotom, but even then it was just rotom taking control of something and giving it life...I think. Now that they have a sword...which is a pokemon...which isn't really alive since they said it was a human spirit possessing the sword...I have a feeling this show might just get a teensy bit more mature in some episodes. And how the heck is that thing supposed to even eat? And if it has an evolution, I'll be impressed, because that means that an animated object now possessed is able to completely reshape an object's structure and look.

OH MY GOD YES I WILL HAVE THIS POKÉMON

I doubt the show will be any more mature, considering Pokémon from as far back as Gen. I have some pretty adult Pokédex entries and they just kind of ignore that... well, everywhere but the Pokédex entries. Otherwise any episodes about Yamask would be soul-crushingly tragic.
