Have to say, loving all the new Pokémon designs and I am DEFINITELY getting this game!

 

I am so glad. A fire flying type that might not suck and isn't legendary or a starter. My prayers have been answered.

I'd name mine Hellbat Schilt, but I don't think that'll fit.

Err... Hate to break it to you, but the only reason Ho-oh doesn't suck is because it's legendary; it has the stats to compensate, not to mention in an environment where Stealth Rock is less common. x4 Rock is a hard-knock life, especially when you're also x2 Water and Electric. Especially when you become x2 Ground with Roost! Oy, poor firebirds.

It really depends on which legendaries we're talking about. Tyranitar could probably kill about half of them - pseudo or otherwise. And that's just an example; there are plenty of normal Pokés who outclass a swath of legendaries.

Seriously though, using anything like a Legendary in a competition is pretty, um, childish?

Like "look at my legendary Pokémon It'll kill you"

I see legendaries as trophies more than anything.

 

The one thing I'm hoping for is that those 3 characters we found out about are your rivals. It'd be awesome if we had three rivals, especially since just having 2 in Black/White was cool enough. And I don't see why not, especially since the region is big enough itself that it'll probably be a while to walk through it all. I'm thinking the actual size of it might be somewhere between a full johto and maybe half kanto or something? That might be over estimating, but they did say it was a big region.

I also think it's cool about the sky battles and the music change. Sky battles because it can give more incentive on grabbing more flying pokemon and working with that type as well as maybe even a new type of battle mechanic besides just using flying, and the music if not just so you don't have to listen to the same song if you hate it. I just hope we get info on the new organization that we have to beat up.

Also, is anyone else looking forward to the 5-on-1 wild battles? I'm seeing a great way to train....if it's something common

 

If you did a little bit of searching, you'd already know that is the case. They are rivals, but whether they're major rivals or just friendly rivals is unknown.

 

Dude exactly. It's like, if I'm going to have a bomb-ass team, I want them to have come a long way to get there, through time and effort, not just through being special one-time only catches.

 

I've already learned that just because they appear on paper, doesn't meant they're rivals. Heck, for all we know they could be random kids that show up and spout nonsense without doing anything. All I'm saying is I'm just hoping they are main rivals.

I'll occasionally use Legendaries if I have beaten the game at least once and just want to do it fortehlulz, but otherwise I see no other reason.

 

First of all; I apologise for coming off as rude. Wasn't my intention.
Secondly; It was said somewhere that they were rivals to the player. I'm not sure what you mean by "appear on paper", but that much was confirmed. Whether they'll be fought just once, or be recurring major rivals is what has yet to be seen.

 

I follow serebii, so I got screenshots along with their news, and considering they get the pokemon at the same time as you, I'm calling at least 1 of them is going to be more of a major rival than the other, kinda like how Cheren was more of a rival than Bianca....who just kinda failed. Although I gotta say, they're not my favorite character design. The young, hyper girl seems like the most normal, but the other two looks like something pulled out of digimon....especially the small Izzy kid

 

What might be an interesting idea is if you yourself got to choose which you wanted to be the bigger rival to you. It's not impossible either, since X and Y seem to be trying out the idea of customisation, and that could definitely be a form of it.
Who knows, we could just see something pretty cool regarding these three.

 

I hadn't thought of that, that would be really cool. I mean, not only if you got to choose who would be your biggest to lowest rival, but at the same time that would be picking who got what starter, who appeared where, what events happened how, and all that. Heck, maybe they could do something where it ended up being one of them became champion and you fought them (which I want again so much, or at least you fight the champion once, they end up beating him/her officially, and then you have to beat your rival, make 6 fights or something instead of the normal 5 the first time in the league)

 

There were new type rumours abound the past months, and honestly, I had hoped the Light/Sound one would be true. They would seem less prone to arbitrary retconning (never understood why some members were in that egg group; what makes Marill a Fairy exactly?). I'll learn to love the Fairy-type in due time though. Make it weak to Poison to balance out those suckers while you're at it. Also, am I the only who suspects that they revealed Noivern solely for the purpose of debunking that there will ever be a Sound-type.
Speaking of which, I see a lot of non-unique combinations that had to have their types reversed for some reason. What's up with that? A new way of calculating damage, perhaps? I mean, they've been doing it for ages but I never really understood the reason behind it and they seem to be doing it an awful lot now.

On to the Pokémon then. After the unthoughtful miscreant that was the Pidove line, I was relieved to see that Talonflame is in fact a cool-looking bird. Most of the other new Mons released look pretty sweet, in fact. We could have done without an extra butterfly, but Vivillon's looks make adding one still acceptable. As much as I love it's design, it's pre-evolutions look positively hideous. They're about the only designs I dislike so far though.
Why did they make Furabebe a pure Fairy though, when it screams "I AM PART GRASS-TYPE"? I guess we'll see...

 

Also now that Fairy type is for reals I want to go on the #mspafia IRC and yell at them I TOLD YOU SO YOU F#&KIN' LOSERS

Gotta be honest though... Ubers looks like a really fun thing to do. You literally just let off all the bars and see who's the strongest out there. Plus I used to see some Uber RMTs on Smogon that incorporated NU Pokémon, hehe... That was nuts.
