Pokemon Question?

when i went into my room today my little cousin was watching pokemon the first movie. at the end mewtwo erased everyone memory so they forgot about him, mew, and the clones. then after they were back to there normal lives ash caught a glimpse of mew in the clouds and he said "the day i started my pokemon journey i saw a really rare pokemon, i think i just saw another"

1) why did mewtwo erase there memory
2) what rare pokemon did ash see when he started his pokemon journey?

i don't know why but it's been bugging me =P

 

1) cause he wanted that noone knows about him like team rocket or so...
2) i think it was Zapdos but i'm not sure >.<

 

Damn it, now i am going to be thinking about this all the time now.

Um, mewtwo erased their memory cause I think is was cause they were at some sacred ground or something, and he didn't want them to remember.

And I don't know the second part.

 

1) If people knew about MewTwo, they would seek to capture him and disrupt the peaceful life he seeks
2) Ho-oh, it's a Legendary from the 2nd Gen but meh...

...yes, i have knowledge of Pokémon... DO NOT QUESTION ME!

 

it couldn't have been ho-oh since he's part of the johto pokemon and that wasn't thought up at the time

and what ever happened to mewtwo and the others

 

i think there's another movie which's called mewtwo returns ...
