Zzzzzrrt! And here's some info about those new Pokémon!



This is Tapu Koko, guardian of Melemele Island, your home in Alola. It's an Electric/Fairy type, and its ability Elekimaker turns the field automatically into Electric Terrain. It can learn a new attack called Nature Fury.



Up next is Charjabug, the Bug/Electric evolution of Grubbin. It can learn Spark. It will evolve into...



Vikavolt, who is also a Bug/Electric type! It can learn Zap Cannon.



Up next is Drampa, a Normal/Dragon type. Its new ability, Frenzy, increases its special attack when activated, though the means of activation is currently unknown. It can learn Dragon Breath.



Bruxish is a Water/Psychic type. Its new ability, Dazzle, prevents moves with a higher speed priority from hitting. It can learn Psywave.



Cutiefly is a Bug/Fairy type. It can learn Fairy Wind.



Togedemaru appears to be the Alola region's Pika-clone. It's an Electric/Steel type with Lightningrod as an ability. It can learn Discharge.

 

Yes, when the Pokémon were first leaked, but later this morning they got officially announced via a video on Pokémon's Japanese YouTube channel (which is linked in DT's last post in here).

 

Zzzzzrrt! Here's the English trailer for yesterday's reveal, with some extra info!

Iwanko's English name is Rockruff. Nekkoala's is Komala, and its ability is called Comatose. Zygarde's Power Construct ability allows it to change formes when its health drops to 50% or lower. Tapu Koko's ability is called Electric Surge, and the new move it learns is called Nature's Madness. Charjabug's ability is Battery, which boosts the power of allies' special attacks. Vikavolt's ability is Levitate. Drampa's ability Berserk raises its special attack when its health drops to 50% or lower; it can also have Sap Sipper. Bruxism can have either Dazzling or Strong Jaw for an ability. Cutie fly can have Honey Gather or Shield Dust as its ability. Togedemaru can have Lightning Rod or Iron Barbs as an ability.

Riding Pokémon also makes a return from X and Y!

People in Alola are scared of Kiteruguma to the point of having warning signs about it. It is really strong and can break anytthing in two. It likes to hug its trainers but is strong. Raising one puts your life in danger.

Mimikkyu hates sunlight, preferring dark places. It is rumoured that the cloth covering its body is a strategy to avoid the sun. Don't try to remove the cloth it is said that those that do become afflicted with an illness. It wants to be loved by people like Pikachu is. It's priced at $89.99 USD and $119.99 CAD.

Several new Pokémon!

Firstly, Mimikkyu is localized to Mimikyu. Its ability, Disguise, allows it to escape receiving damage once, and changes its appearance afterwards. Kiteruguma is localized to Bewear, and its ability Fluffy halves damage from contact-making attacks, but doubles damage it takes from Fire-type attacks.

Wimpod, a Bug/Water-type, has the new ability Wimp Out, which causes it to escape from battle or switch out once its HP falls below half. Bounsweet is a Grass-type with the abilities Leaf Guard and Oblivious. Comfey is a Fairy-type with the new ability Triage, which increases the priority of healing moves, and the ability Flower Veil. Mudsdale is a Ground-type with the new ability Stamina, which increases its defense whenever it's hit by an attack, as well as the ability Own Tempo.

Players will also now have the ability to start their own online competitions with the updated Global Link website. A new feature called Hyper Training will also appear, allowing players to directly increase a Level 100 Pokémon's IVs in exchange for Bottle Cap items.

From what I've seen, they've changed up quite a few iconic mechanics of Pokemon so far in this gen, I'd be willing to see a twist with the "team" you fight against, or perhaps its not a team or an individual at all.

I know the cliché formula is something that's always safe to approach, but I think there'd be lots of room for positive reception if they took a different 'route'. (pokemon pun intended.)
