Nintendo have always had long legged boys and girls as the protagonists in every Pokemon game though. And btw does anyone know if the game characters have ever been assigned an age? I know Ash was in the anime and it is acceptable for 10 year olds to go and get pokemon in the Pokemon world but that doesn't mean that the protagonists of the game are... Don't they purposely leave out details for immersion? Like it's easier to identify with a more simple character than one that is 8 when you are 40...

EDIT: names are confirmed as Tsutaaja for the grass one, Pokabu for the fire starter and Mijumaru for water. It is interesting to note that "Tsuta" means "ivy", "Bu" relates to "pig", "Mijuku" means "immature" and "maru" means "round" or "ball".

According to translations of the scan, the protagonists are "older than past ones".
The starters look ****ing ******ed. I don't think this is going to end well.

Most people see them as 10 year olds.

Ah, that'd be why they look older and more long legged than usual.

And yeah >> Let's hope that they have some really redeeming new Pokemon. The 4th gen had a few badass Pokemon but the majority of them where ******ed looking things that are probably the love child of a PETA member and a llama.

Umm according to Serebii.net "Zoroark has an ability called Illusion which will allow it to transform into various Pokémon". Surely ability cannot be a mistranslation of move - but when and how can it be activated? The battles have gone under graphics reconstruction, so why not the whole style of battling in the respect that abilities can be activated at the player's own timing? Is there any evidence yet to explain why it is an abilty instead of a move?

I think it could be a calculation involving specific features of the opponent or Zoroark's HP/Weather effects/etc or both at the same time. We'll just have to wait and see how they make it work.

I was certainly quite off with my pokemon type estimations.

In comparison of the three, the Grass-type starter appears to be quite decent. The other two, however, are not quite interesting - fried bacon as the Fire-type starter, I assume this adds to the current spicy chicken wing we had received as the Hoenn starter. I certainly hope Game Freak does not plan to turn the Fire-type Pokemon into a four-course meal.

The protagonists certainly appear slightly older as was aforementioned in previous outlets. The clothing and general design for the female character, however, appears quite ridiculous to myself - is she attempting to stuff Zigzagoons up her shorts?

I must irrelevantly point out that I had a surge of Pikablu nostalgia with this name.

It has been assumed that they are general teenagers, perhaps even into young adult territory, but I certainly doubt the latter.

It is stated that Issun is a region that is located "far away" from the other regions. Judging from the architecture and stylistic choices, it appears to be hinting at either an American or European influence. Would I be right to presume that I am the only one believing that Hiun City holds allusions to New York City?

I may be a bit out of topic here but if the new main characters are older could this also mean that in the new season of the anime Ash will be older as well?

This far i like the best the grass type. The other two are weird. I think i'll get used to them as usual but now they seem so weird.

Also i'm very intrigued by the new region. Far away from the others. Very interesting.

I'm gonna wait to see the evolutions before I decide which one I prefer. To be honest they all look pretty lame.

And Ash probably will age officially.

I hope he does. It just seems weird when you know a few years have passed and Ash is still 10.

    Ash will turn...what, 11? >>

I was way off in what I thought the Pokemon looked like.
The grass one is, alright, but the other two? Eh.

What's with the girl's shorts? I've seen shorts that are shorter than their pockets, but hers are just...Zizagoonish, like What? said.

Ash has the same disease that Lisa, Bart and Maggie from the Simpsons have. Don't make fun of them for it.

I think they should just get rid of Ash. Have him knocked off a cliff during a battle against another trainer. He has been around for too long...

The problem there is that the Simpsons are actually funny and that show is based around comedy so I can let it slip for those kind of shows.

I'm just hoping Ash wins the Sinnoh league though it's looking unlikely considering I'm hearing things that one trainer at the league will have a legendary.

Ash will never leave the show. We already know that he will stay till the very end.

Anyway looking at fanart for the new starters make them look so cute and i'm already getting used to them. Even the clownish little Otter.

There is apparent speculation that Black and White will establish separate anime itself, but indeed is this simply speculation. I sincerely doubt Ash will age for the above reasons posted; he is a simple children's television static character and age is irrelevant.

I concur with this, the starters certainly grow on you if one checks for art and comments everywhere.

Take a look The sprites look a bit cheap =/ Anyway many people talk about a zooming feature during battles but (aside from the fact of Pokemon moving during battles, at least according to Serebii) i think my theory has chances of being accurate. I do think that there's a possibility that the camera will rotate behind each of the battling Pokemon when it's their turn to make a move.

Also, did you guys see the clear images? I'm so so curious about that huge bridge and the street with people walking around. My hopes for this game are getting bigger and bigger.

I think I understand how the system works from what you've said. It'll zoom in and out from the standard view and a full behind the sprite look with a possibility of rotating for turns? And by moving in battle do you mean the animations might actually be the Pokemon's arms moving when they use an attack like Ice Punch the sprite will actually punch forward and the damage sprite will hit the enemy?

So that's how it works, the photos in the link that Mr. Brightside posted explain why Entei turned into Mr. Brightside Zoroark.

Sorry - I get confused between Mr. Brightside and Zoroark :P

I am even more certain that this city is based on New York. What is also noted is that apparently the bridge connects Hiun City to another city.

    EDIT: I also must add:

Oh you silly smug snake and your meme.

    Second:

Oh my, the sprites. What I would simply think of is how tedious it must be animating all of them.

I watched that earlier. I guess i was wrong about the rotating camera XD

Anyway there is also another video that shows the female character walking in the city.

Also it would be interesting to know if they actually did based the Hiun city on New York. That would be awesome since (in the anime at least) we've seen adaptions of Venice and Greece (well sorta).

And that pic of Tsutaja is pure epic. I like more and more this Pokemon.

I didn't expect that. Now the Pokemon will seem more alive than before. Dear god, children will need to be issued an encyclopaedia of real animals with every copy of Pokemon Black and White.
