They already planned to continue expanding Pokemon ever since the anime was made. The kids just ate this **** up so they know that all they have to do is add more and more Pokemon and kids will play it. Then you get everyone else who plays it with the kids and bam, success. They'll keep going until they run out of popularity. I can imagine they'd try to get the number of Pokemon on an even one again so probably near 600. They'll definitely add more Eevee evolutions as well, they'll end up doing an Eevee of every type. For the Steel type, in reference to the ******ation that is Jasmine's diaglouge, Clangeon.

Blue was the third version, Red and Green where the first two in Japan and we got Blue instead of Green then they had Blue released in Japan as a special order. Or so I'm told.

Apparently you haven't read the interview in which Tsunekazu Ishihara said that the original Pokémon Gold & Silver games were intended to be the last in the series.

    You mean this interview?

And just because Gold and Silver could have been when they decided to expand the series.

In the anime, the first episode, a rough draft of Ho-oh (completely gold) was shown and not recognized, so they already planned to expand the series at least once. Upon seeing how successful it was, someone was probably like "Oh ****, let's milk this Miltank for all it's worth and expand every year or so."
Good idea. Until someone said "we can do it for the show, too!"
    But I digress

EDIT: Oh crap, I didn't notice how big that interview is. Oh well.

That's a big interview and i'm a bit lazy to read this now. I mean this

Don't know if this is the same but at least it is smaller.
Well yeah, Ho-oh was there but we don't know if they planned to make a new gen. The design was different and maybe Ho-oh was there to prepare Ash for his "epic journey" or something...

In the first image, we see what can be assumed is the first released map of anything in Pokemon Black/White.

Am I the only person who appears to see inspiration from both Chicago and New York City in this new city? I also see quite a bit of Art Deco, thank goodness.

It is interesting to point out that Black and White do not appear to have your Pokemon following you as was observed in the Gold and Silver remakes.

Indeed. Though, there is a slight possibility that they have somehow come up with a way to make that optional. I doubt that your Pokemon will follow you though, I think that was just a feature for HG and SS.

That is possible. And indeed, quite true, although the possibility of your Pokemon following your overworld sprite around was perhaps one of the most popular features of any sort of Pokemon game? Why remove it from future installments and simply list it as a sort of "gimmick" for Heart Gold and Soul Silver?

Maybe they have something to replace it? They may have a budget to keep and spent it on not making new sprites but for something different.

Budget is not the only issue, space is as well. I imagine that a game cartridge can not hold every single sprite following your character alongside every new feature of Pokemon generation 5.

    Understandable, I suppose.

It would be subjective with how much is within the new factors and features of Black and White.

Also, Serebii has released the three new starters - or rather, their silhouettes.

    I am assuming this is a Fire-type;

    I am assuming this is a Water-type.

When I try to add details to the starters, I think of Turtwig and Piplup.
I hope they look very different than those two.

As for the fire type...I think of one of the lake trio. I want actual images.

Now I may finally have a Tailleyrand with my Empoleon. What in the world am I doing, Pokemon threads are the improper places for horrible historical puns.

I do understand your thoughts, however; these two look slightly too similar the Generation V starters.

I can clearly think of the Grass starter as some sort of swine-based Pokemon unless it was decided that quadrupeds with that structure have such intentionally curly tails.

The Water starter may be a large amount of aquatic animals or possible derivatives. That tail may be a beaver or platypus tail while it also appears to have an excellent chance of being a simple fin. However - and it may simply be my screen - I can swear to see a sort of cross-hatching on the tail despite it being a complete silhouette, denoting a beaver-derived pokemon. This may most likely be distortion due to low quality, however.

It looks slightly similar to Charmander but it looks a lot closer to Azelf. The tail, the tiny legs. It's head looks like Cyndaquils but pointier and upside down.

Looks like a combination between Pikachu, Turtwig and Marill. The shape of Turtwig, the tail of Marill and the combined ears of Pikachu and that leaf thing on Turtwigs head. It might also have a beak like Psyducks from the shape around it's face. That sounds kinda messed up.

Looks like Piplup but more Platypus-like. Seems to also have features of other actual flying birds. Or the ears might be a cats and we have another messed up creature. It’s harder to pick things out of this one’s siloutette since the detail seems to be the tiny ears on it’s head, the tail and the ring shapes around it’s neck.

Pretty much my thoughts on it. I didn't think of Marill though to be honest. The tail reminds me more of Spoink's.

I will laugh so hard if this is true. The Bidoof haters will go crazy. It looks like a Mew-Piplup combination to me.

I didn't think of Azelf untill i read your post. As soon as i saw it i thought "HA! Another Charmander? O.o" XD For some reason though it reminds me of Moomins XDD

On another forum someone else pointed out that it could be a grass type Pokemon since that thing on its tail could be a leaf. Interesting.

    YAY!
I thought that the grass starter's shadow was a bit too similar to charmander's for them to be like, "Let's remake charmander and give it three flames!"
Also people talking about how the fire starter's form looked like swinub or the tail looked like spoink were accurate. The ears remind me of Pikachu.
The water starter looks really stupid.

First. No way are those kids 10. I've never heard of long legged boys and girls in Japan.
And looks like the grass type looks smug, the fire type looks simple and I want to know why there is a penis on the water types chest.
The Starter Pokemon have gotten worse yet again. When will they learn that they need to make starters badass like the first 6? >> Hopefully there's the fourth option like this picture I once saw where by the 4th gen the player character was asking for a gun >>
