Poetry Contests.

OMFG! REALLY?!?!?! I THOUGHT MY POEM WAS, LIKE, THE WORST I'VE WRITTEN!0-o
Then again...my teacher (and mom) tell me i have low self-eesteem...

can i submit one now?

 

You've got potential, girl friend. Since it took at least a week to choose a winner, I'm assuming the judges had a hard time agreeing on one particular poem. You should feel proud of yourself.

As for submitting one, there's no reason you shouldn't. You won't improve if you don't keep trying after all. :)

 

K, here goez:

I'm sitting on the fresh sping grass.
I'm walking out the door.
I'm biking to the park,
And the creek.

I see no one I know.
I see no friends.
I cry, and my tears hit the grass as
A rabbit hops away.

It looks happy.
The birds look gay.
The squirrels chitter,
chat,
and gather.

The creek water runs,
Flowing into a hole to
Who knows where?
The sping dominates the frozen winter,

The sun overwhelms
The moon.

sorry, probably misspelled 'overwhelms'. i know it doesn't rhyme, sorry 'bout that too.

 

Two things I just want to point out before I go back into lurking mode. One, there's a spell-check button that you can use before you post (or you can always spell-check using some other program like Word). Second of all, poems don't necessarily have to rhyme. Many great poets use free verse. Not everyone takes after Shakespeare after all. :xp:

here's mine.

Spring
The winter is gone and the winds roll in,

Love blooms from the flowers.

The life in people come to their souls and enter their minds.

Rain, falls down onto the earth's homes.

Nature enters our lives and we come out.

Lives, hearts, everything comes intact.

Sea coasts roaring with waves, clouds blowing with rain and wind.

Spring comes out and give us life.​

 

dream of spring

Ohh how i dream of a time.
Of a time when the sun rays beat non-stop upon my back.
Of a time when the soil is soft and wet under my heavy shoe.
I dream of a time when the rain doesnt always mean the cold is back.
But now i awake
Awake to a time when the skys are still blotted out by dark clouds
And this time instead of a nice warm shower there is but a harsh cold snow.
Ohh how the time i dream of seems so far off
But then again its only a pill or two away.

 

Nice poem one problem though. The subject is supposed to be spring not eternal darkness

 

I'll give this a shot.

Spring

While watching all these early buds and swallows,
I can feel tonight
that my heart’s slowly growing over sorrows
as someone’s horizon on smiley days might;

That it’s getting bigger like all plants around
and as light as feather,
and that all happiness that’s above the ground
and a Hell of pain wouldn’t really matter:

It’s longing for all things that a life as such
could give nice to thy,
and completely nothing wouldn’t be too much--
it’s eager desire and hopes are so high.

Everything that’s happened has been just a play
of my heart on fire;
my true love has never been given away
as much as I could and as I desire;

There are, in my deeps, gentle tides of words
never let outside;
I could give my heart to everyone on worlds,
yet, it would remain a lot of it inside.

This months theme will be dreams.

At night when you think through your day
Think on the things that you did say
When you think through the things that you should be

Dream of blue skies forever
Dream that we are a worthy endeavor

Why do I find it

Dreams
Dreams are things you can use to see what goes on in the complicated brain cells that are in your head,
dream at day or dream at night,
dream about stars or dream about space dream about nice things people have said,
dreams are not like nightmares with a dream you wont get a fright,
dream about picnics or dream about ultimate power,
dream about the magical pheonix flower,
whatever the weather have sweet dreams and i hope the bedbugs dont stop these lovely dreams goodnight

Won't end.


Closing my eyes I see a new thing.
Nothing original.
Something from the mind.
With the background showing and the character's talking.
My dream won't end unless I re-open my eyes.

With the imagination inside, the movements.
It feels real, but it's just a dream.
Keeping myself quiet to listen and watch.
The funny moments in the story and also the sad.
My dream won't end unless theres an interruption..

Remembering what's happening,
I know when I wake up it will be forgotten.
So when I close my eyes and dream.
My dream will stay with me, with no ending.

~Meaning of Dreams~

Dreams
Do they ever come true?
Sometimes,
But you have to believe.

Dreams can be
A blissful getaway,
A place to relax,
Your own, safe haven.

They show what
You want to see,
What you want to know,
What you want to come true.

Some dreams can be good,
Yet some can be bad,
But they belong to you
And nobody else

A dream is what
You wish to happen,
What you want
To come true.

As often said before,
If you put your heart into it,
Anything can happen.

Well, by believing,
Having faith in you dream,
It will surly come true.

The Sound of the Nightingale

They say dreams are what the brain does,
To process the thoughts of day,
And some believe that can tell us,
The future in some way.

I believe however,
That whatever the dream may be,
Each is unique to the last iota,
Like all of us, you and me.

The land of sweets and candy,
Dreamt up by little kids,
Or the star-crossed dreams of lovers,
Willing do to what the other bids.

The old folks dreams of youth,
The Wrights Brother's dream to fly,
Or even the dream of young Icarus,
To some day touch the sky.

And what of that of most of us,
Like me as I write with this pen,
Of peace and harmony round the world,
And good will to all men.

The dream of a singer to be on Broadway,
And that of the dancer too,
And the dream of the lonely widow,
To find some love anew.

So please, our dreams are our own,
Don't squash them, they are frail,
And Tonight let them carry you away,
With the sound of the nightingale.
