lol Plums making art. what is this nonsense.

Anyway, as part of my summer work for AP Art History, I have to choose some form of "special project" to do. And I figured since I had GIMP downloaded, I might as well try to actually learn how to do another art form besides write (whichispooranyway).

And I literally just started doing this today. For like, the second time in my entire life. So CnC me like you've never done before. Give me a good old Repliku length post! B|

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/ploohems24/Untitled.png To be perfectly honest, this was a C4D I was planning on using in conjunction with a stock image of a Shadow Heartless. But I didn't know how to layer things properly, and the C4D ended up getting all the effects. All of them. I actually kind of like this one, even if it ma be an accident.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/ploohems24/o-1.png For this one, I should have kept the effects to one side. Using "Sparks" to the right of the Heartless just threw off the entire focal point of the image.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/ploohems24/hhhjjj.png For this one, I tried to create a sort of "digital" look around Sora as an effect of playing Re:coded too much. :B I dunno, I think I should have moved the stock more to the right, and kept the digital brush strokes to the left.

    Original
    Rotated

The cloudy blur all around it was to reference Castle Oblivion. I think I could have gone with less blur, but oh well.

Also I just realized I ranted just like Misty does whenever she posts a story. :B

These are all quite good... o-o

The rotated icon is better in my opinion and the only tag I have a problem with is Sora. I get what you were going for but it just didn't come out that way... other than that these are all great though! X)

Signiture number 3(with the heartless) is just adorable, the colours are so pretty and it all fits together.
I love the way youve done all of these, and the avatar is very nice.
    Great work :3

These are really good considering you only literally started today.

I don't think the first one was a disaster at all, the blur is definitely interesting but it's quite simple and you can still tell what it is. My only suggestion for this would be not to blur the centre part of the face where you're supposed to concentrate your attention on, it draws the eye outwards otherwise.

I quite like the second one althought I'm not really sure what it is but the colours are quite nice. I just think this one needs somethnig more to look at but the effects are really nice.

The third one is very good, the heartless blends well into the background and the dark greens and yellows go nicely together I just feel the heartless needs to stand out just a bit more. This could be sharpening the centre or lightening the background a bit more.

The green lines in the fourth one seem a bit out of place since the rest of the signature is quite calm colours, the vibrant green straight lines don't blend with that, instead I would have more curved lines of a lighter green. The Sora picture is of high quality though.

I really like the avatar, first of all because the quality is good but also the action shot is nice. The placement is good but you're right, just a little less blurring and it would be a lot better as the picture would be clearer.

These are very good though and you should feel proud in my opinion, just a few things to touch up on. I would suggest checknig out the tutorials section's list of tutorials as you may find somethnig you don't already know but to me you look like you know your way around GIMP.

Ohai Plum pie. These are pretty good considering you only just started making, better then what I did when I first attempted at least. My personal favorites would have to be your 'First signature ever' and the third Heartless signature. The blur on the first signature is interesting and it isn't overdone so you can still tell what the image is, I also love the angst/moody look. The Heartless signature is just adorable, the dark yellow and green colors go very nice together. Feel proud Pie! B| 'cus these are well made and very good. c:

Alright, made a couple more. Asked a few people (namely Ienzo, Chevalier and Stardust) for their input on the first one in MSN earlier yesterday.

The second one I just threw together at 5 am. 8'D
Will edit with my own opinions later when I'm not about to die of exhaustion.~

Edit: Alright, for the first one...bleh. The stock image I was using wasn't very good. I also should have brought it down a bit more so you could actually see John's face and see that it was a person. :'D I do like the background, though. The blue and orange blended together better than I thought they would. I went back and burned the stock some, but I don't think I'll be using any more Homestuck images until I can find better pictures. xD

The second one I actually love. I think what could help it was adding a bit more to the background instead of cutting it off, and possibly using all red text instead of red and blue. Overall this came out better than I expected, and I think I'll be trying to move into getting better at the stuff I tried to do in here.
