Plain and simple, it won't spin. It was working fine a few days ago. If I start it the more manual way (by going to the browser), I'll get a normal, but very short, "Reading disc..." message, and I know it's not that short. The open button also gets stuck, but even when I un-stick it so the lid can close properly, it still won't spin. This is about, I don't know, the 4th or 5th PS2 I've had problems with. All my others were laser reading problems, including the first one, which was a fat one. Help?
This is kind of a generic answer, but how long have you had the PS2? It may just be getting worn out.
I'm not entirely sure, I think about 2 years. They all seem to go belly-up after about two years, although the last one was about a year. However, it's not that it won't read the discs this time, it's that it won't spin. I'm hoping the warranty is still good. There's a one-year one where we can send it to Sony if there are problems, and then one after that to send it to GameStop. Man, I am getting sick and tired of all of these problems with everything. Edit: After doing some cleaning, it's working. However, for some reason, it won't read my Action Replay Max that came in the mail today. It's always done this, and I don't know why. There are some discs, such as ARM or Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, that just don't wanna be read. If I were to get a new PS2, they would, but I'm not getting a new PS2 simply for a couple or few discs not working.
I've had a similar problem before with my used PS2. I dont remember if it didn't spin or it couldn't read the disc. I ended up swapping the PS2 for an other. Do you get your PS2's used or brand new? My cousin had his PS2 longer then I've has mine and it is still running like new.
