Hopefully it's better than the other Avatar games, but this is...really unexpected to me, lol.

I'm sure I'm one of the very few here that thinks this, but there really shouldn't be any Avatar games. They just don't seem like the type of thing that would work all that great. Especially this one, if it takes place between season 1 and 2. I can't imagine anything important happening there

It seems odd that they're setting this between Season 2 and 3. With the ending season 2 had, there should probably be some pretty big character development right after that. But there's no way they're going to put that in this game over the next season.

It might be cool, I'm not the biggest fan of Platinum Games. It takes a lot of the enjoyment out of a game for me, if your moves don't have any weight to them, which I find Platinum terrible at. And it seems like a pretty important thing for this particular game. But we'll see, maybe it will be good.

DAMN IT PLUMS I WANTED THIS THREAD

But yeah, even though I've felt iffy about the last two books of the Korra show, Platinum will make one helluva game, and it's even better that they're putting it on the next-gen systems as well.

DAMNIT YOU BEAT ME TO POSTING THIS anyways I hope that this company looks at the mistakes of the Legend of Aang games on PS2 (into the inferno and burning earth were good to a point but replaying them yesterday made me realize how badly flawed they actually are for such an amazing series like Avatar) and makes Korra into a good game..though I really wish someone would take up making Legend of Aang into a decent game :L

This takes place between Books 2 and 3, but according to Bryke, that gap is only two or three weeks. Intriguing...

But yES FINALLY KORRA GAME AND BY PLATINUM AW YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Also, there's going to be a version for the 3DS that's a strategy game!

Part of me wonders if they meant between Books 1 & 2? There were Equalist tanks and apparently Chi Blockers running around still, which considering the 6 months or so between the two books should be more space to work with. Though considering the spirits are there and the trailer has her by the Tree of Time, I'm unsure lol.

What's with the weird pinkish tint on these shots? This is how it's meant to look.

Guys over at Destructoid were able to play the game for a bit, so here's a written preview.

    My synopsis, if you care:

    • The story's confirmed to be right after Book Two ends, has an original villain who has abilities similar to the Chi blockers, and uses them to pretty much Metroid-nerf Korra (take her powers away so she has to get them back as the game progresses.)
    • Combat involves switching between all four elements on the fly, a la switching weapons mid combo in Bayonetta, and each element is better than the others in some form (water has range, air has area-of-effect.) Dodges and counters are in too.
    • You can ride on an air-ball like Aang did in the openings for Avatar: The Last Airbender.
    • Avatar state is playable, pretty much like Devil Trigger in Devil May Cry or Ripper Mode in Metal Gear Rising
    • Voice actors and music are reprised from the show.
    • Average playthrough is about four hours long.
    • Apparently pretty far along in development (I'd expect as much with the pretty close release date.)
    • Will probably sell for around $15.

    Yeah, I'm getting this game.

When I saw "4 hours of gameplay" my face sort of dropped but for it's price and the way it looks I'm not too fussed. As long as it plays well I won't be fussed I guess :L

The four hours is kinda disappointing, but it sounds like it'll be a good romp and at that price point, I can't argue too much, lol. HOPEFULLY THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE BS in this game, but I'm hopeful since Bryke was working closely with it and they know fans are sick of that (even if they got the reasons behind that wrong).

i can't wait to airbend all the things

I presume this whole game is filler though right? or non-canon if you prefer.

I'm going to assume it's 4 good hours as opposed to 4 good hours split between 16 mediocre hours, so fine by me

Length is fine if the game is satisfying enough. Generally Plat wants you to replay their games on higher difficulties. Keep in mind though, Vanquish was reported to be some weirdly short length that made no sense. It didn't count in deaths, cutscenes, retries, or even in between mission item management. Like... that's still game time, guys. That's like saying Mass Effect is short because you didn't talk to the crew ever.

What interests me is that Platinum has reportedly never made a game and not profited. So the speculation here, because they hire so many people all the time, is that they need to take up a licensed game project ala Treasure-style to afford the man power needed for the big contracts like SEGA, Konami, Nintendo, and Microsoft. If this becomes a thing, I won't mind. Devs like Ganbarion and Treasure make sick use of their licenses. Like, Treasure made a good BLEACH game. If that's not reason enough to be happy a good developer got a license, nothing is.
